Patreon preview: A different way to publish Obsidian notes

Obsius Publish

Hey, folks! I'm finally back after a bit of a break, and this time with a preview of a video I'm publishing next week about a community plugin called Obsius Publish. Obsius Publish is my current go-to plugin for publishing temporary or one-off notes quickly and for free. I'm still using Obsidian Publish for my main notes, but sometimes I want to publish notes semi-privately and just give someone a shareable link. That's where Obsius Publish comes in.

Shout out to my friend Andy Polaine for first telling me about this plugin a few months ago. He's actually writing a book about the Design Leadership Dip, inviting people to critique and review drafts along the way, and using Obsius Publish to do it.

Where have I been?

Some of you may have noticed that I've been rather silent on a few channels lately. Sorry about that! Thank you for the well wishes; it's so sweet to think that some noticed my absence and were concerned. I've been dealing with some burnout lately and I'm just now clawing my way out of it. It turns out that balancing full-time work with YouTube and, you know, also attempting to have a social life can be quite tricky. I'm back now, and wanted to thank you lovely Patreons for supporting my work. You make it feasible for me to spend time on this little hobby of mine.

I have a backlog of Patreon messages to get through, but I answer every single Patreon message and always prioritise them over comments on other public platforms. Thanks for your patience as I work through them!

Discord changes

Are you on my Discord server? Discord is an chat-based community platform-- like Slack, but not for work. I have one that I manage with a few volunteers, and you can join it by connecting your Discord account to Patreon. It's often the quickest way to contact me and ask me questions.

Currently, Discord is only for Patreons, but I'm planning to open that up soon so that I can invite people to watch my progress as I write that book I talked about writing in public a few months ago. I haven't made any progress on it, but I want to! I'll be opening up the Discord server to the public as part of that-- but Patreons will still get a Patreon-only channel (#patreon) that you'll automatically be invited to, so that I can answer your questions there first.

Have a great weekend, everyone! Be kind to yourselves.

Comments

Oh, hmmm. That might be a Patreon thing. I've edited the original post so that it has the direct link as well, in case people find the same thing that you did. Thanks for letting me know!

You're so awesome. I appreciate you! Thanks for the encouragement.

Oh, thank you. That was really interesting. I will definitely try it soon. Could you please tell me why your YouTube video is embedded through some rather complicated iframe? Obsidian itself can embed the same preview.

I finished watching the video and this is pretty cool. Thanks for sharing the plugin/site, there are uses cases I have for this kind of thing for sure. Also I'm glad to hear that you took time away when you were feeling burned out. Happy to be one of your supporters and I appreciate the hard work you put into teaching everyone about Obsidian and PKM.
