This week's video is about my process for turning a raw note into something that enriches my day-to-day life and career. I also talk about some other plugins I've been using but haven't talked about before: Note Refactor and Strange New Worlds.
Note: This video will be unlisted until Friday, when I have to mark it as private shortly before it is published for everyone to see. If you try to watch it and get a "Private video" error, you've probably caught it in that small window. Wait a few hours and try again-- it will be published shortly.
I've been working on a few things this month that will probably only be interesting for TTRPG players, but I know there are at least some of you here! Check out these resources:
The TTRPG vault. I wanted to put too many TTRPG stuff in the standard vault, but thought it would clutter that one up for those not interested in gaming. So I created a new vault that has, among other things:
- the D&D 5e SRD (which I am slowly reformatting so that it can be queried using Dataview) and the Ironsworn SRD
- TTRPG statblock plugin templates for D&D 5e, Fate Core, OSR, and Knave 2e
- Pathfinder 2e and The One Ring 2e custom conditions for the Initiative Tracker plugin
The latest link to this will always be here.
Behind the GM screen gameplay videos. I ran my first game in the Knave 2e system earlier this month, and I recorded both sides of the game: the player-facing side AND what was happening on my side while I frantically consulted my notes. They both have audio so you can watch either one, or you can mute the audio of one and play them at the same time!
- Here's the player version.
- Here's the GM version.
(Please excuse my GMing. I'm making Obsidian videos, not "how to GM like a pro" videos. ;P )
D&D 5e monsters. I've had a GitHub repository called Xio's Guide to Monsters for a while now. It has SOME stats (not all, for legal reasons) for official and third-party D&D 5e books. If you just want to download monster files in Markdown, you can do so, but there is also a Python script in there for generating your own (if you have some others you'd like to add). Recently, Sly Flourish, another creator I admire, found it and contributed all of the Tome of Beast 3 monsters, so those are all available now!
My game logs. Did you know I publish my session logs for all the games I play and run? You can find them in my Obsidian Publish site. Note that I do use a lot of plugins (Dataview, Excalidraw, Leaflet, Initiative Tracker) that don't get rendered when published, but you can still get the idea.
As always, everything's a work in progress and feedback is welcome. :) Have a great week!
Kamil
