New video + new in Patreon vault: Database of Stuff + Database Folder

Hey folks, I was going to release the Tabs video this week (it's one I've already previewed on Patreon), but that one is about new Obsidian features that haven't been released yet. So instead, I'm going to release this video about creating a database in Obsidian, using a bunch of different plugins.

For you lovely patreons, I have added related templates that I demonstrated in the video to the Patreon sample vault. It's a sample database that includes the use of the following plugins:

- QuickAdd
- Dataview
- Templater
- Buttons
- Database Folder

I've also created two new workflows for it, which you'll find in [[Creating a database with Dataview]] and [[Creating a database with Database Folder]]. Those two notes will contain instructions for the two different ways to create databases that I'll go over in the video.

If you've downloaded the vault previously, you will need to download it again to see the changes.

Hope you like it! :)

Yay! I hear you... So many lists, so little time! :D

Thanks for the video! I think I actually finally get Dataview now and how to use it! So many lists to make now :P

Oh, are you talking about the Database Folder plugin? Unless you are able to fix it yourself and make a pull request, the best thing you can do is to raise an issue with the developer of the plugin so that they can fix it. Personally, I don't use Database Folder much for the reasons I stated in the video. But many things were fixed in it already since I recorded the video a couple weeks ago, so the developer does seem to be quite active. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before that issue is fixed!

What a great video! There seems to be a problem right now regarding the new plugin: when you edit the field, it always puts it in YAML field, even in the case of being in :: For me, this makes it a bit dangerous right now, because it can wreck pre-existing notes with content in :: Is there a way to deal with this, or will we have to wait for now? Thank you, Nicole!
