AMA | the airplane mode video

Thank you! I only signed up for their patreon after this video - haven’t made it through all the bonus content yet. You’re my hero though because this was BUGGING me πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

During the BTS of the YT algorithm video(?) we see Taha taking down a timeline. This is where the wall destruction begins: as removing tape also took some wall paint along with it.

Dre

I don't really have a question about this one, just great video :)

Not related to this video but it's been bugging me. What did Taha do to his wall? In a number of videos it looks like the paint's been stripped away.

I use airplane mode as a more effective 'do not disturb' and a light reset when the wifi/data isn't working well. This was a really fascinating video and you should be proud that you gave me more information on this one than the Mythbusters! (Did you watch Mythbusters? If so, who was your favorite?) Sabrina, you said that sometimes it feels like Taha's content just appears, did this video just appear?

Lyndsey L. Werner

Off topic but: Taha, I think I saw Alfred on your screen at some point. Have you ever tried upgrading to Raycast? Seems like that would be right up your alley

Taha, on a podcast episode a while back, you talked about getting some "research" for this episode by taking a flight (a.k.a. going on vacation while also making *content*). Did you get any footage from it? Because it doesn't look like any of it made it into the final episode

great video! from my experience, the most I get is being "randomly selected" every time I fly, what have your alls experiences been flying in Canada/UK as people who's cuisine isn't bland? also from your research did you find anything related to bluetooth which is popular now from wireless headphones/airpods? thanks!

Did you do much research into the difference in these policies internationally? A lot of what you talked about seemed to be US-centric, I’m curious if other countries treat phones on planes differently

Hope

Thanks for the video! Took the Mythbusters episode on it to the next level.

Some thoughts: 1. The blue patch on the wall behind Taha frequently caught my attention. Yes, that's my #1 thought after watching this video. 2. Raising the "brown people" issue was a cool way to mention the price some pay for noncompliance with even silly or ineffective rules. Well done, keep it up! 3. There was a recent issue of radar altimeters that were susceptible to noise that was outside but near the radar band, which was found to be due to defective design and/or improper installation. This found as a result of testing done as part of Starlink's frequency request to use part of the C-band. I once worked as an engineer for an aircraft instrument manufacturer, where our instruments had to meet the most stringent requirements for susceptibility to incoming signals/noise and minimal levels of emissions. During tests in the field we learned that many other, usually older, instruments were not so robust, as one of our tests was to aim high levels of RF noise at the aircraft. Our instrument fared well, but the rest of the aircraft often freaked out. The main problem was aging and/or improperly installed cables and connectors, an issue the FAA is addressing with new regulations for commercial aircraft, but only advisories for private aircraft.
