"Pencil crayon" is a Canadian English thing, because we Anglos are too stupid to figure out that it's just bilingual packaging: "Crayon" is French for "pencil". Everywhere else in the world just calls them what they are, coloured pencils.

2024-04-05 20:27:33 +0000 UTCI do deserve it, seriously. :) I looked through my Dropbox and found ebooks I don't ever remember buying. I'm on board with the dragons and kissing. I need to branch out a little more, because I've been too focused on space operas and cyberpunk for far too long.

2024-04-03 16:50:41 +0000 UTCI was taught to treat my books well, and there is definitely value in keeping library books in good condition to be shared by as many people as possible. But! There's also a lot of value in reading a book that other people have annotated. I would love it if it became an accepted practice with library books. Maybe there could be one copy that is kept “clean” and another that is annotated. I would love it if you did an episode on libraries! Especially if you also talk about tool libraries and other libraries of things. I would recommend you get in touch with the Srsly Wrong podcast and hear their proposal for library socialism :)

2024-04-03 04:40:09 +0000 UTCI don’t know what it says about me that when Melissa said “It’s like a collection of poems. You can flip to any page.” I thought “Oh, like the Art of War.” (Why is my brain like this? …but I still think it’s true. You can flip to any page of Sun Tzu and gain insight or vibes.)

2024-04-01 15:59:08 +0000 UTCI have a COMIC book club. We read graphic novels. It’s easier for us all to finish the book since it’s a graphic novel so we all finish it. It’s currently on hold because one of our members is moving but we have been doing it monthly for two years. And we already have the book lined up for when she’s settled.

2024-04-01 15:18:48 +0000 UTCI have 3 library cards currently, but there was a time when I had 5 in my wallet at one point. (Two expired.) As someone who actively bullies people into downloading Libby, I support anyone and everyone getting a library book. I’m with Taha. I avoid writing in books. It feels weird. The major exception is when English class forced me to write in my books as annotations. Otherwise… I like taking notes in a notebook with notes about page numbers. I have ADHD. I don’t want my notes to affect my future reading!
