I’m curious WHY soap works. Back in the day, they used all kinds of crazy stuff to get things clean (the history of laundry is bonkers, at least it is in Europe [two words: aged urine]). So I’m curious why stuff works. For example, did you know you can use literal dirt to clean dishes? Best as I can tell, it absorbs the oil and you can scoop it out… After this and Melissa’s video on ice baths, are we going to get a spa video?

Are you guys hiring?

How did Taha go from speaking to a dermatologist to buying 3-in-1 products? The math is not mathing!

I think a large part of skincare and cleanliness generally is that beyond a certain point it’s quite individualistic and many factors determine what your skin looks like and how healthy it is. But at the same time big industry wants to sell us creams, serums, routines and ideals so they have to make their product claims as universally appealing as possible. Even for specific skin conditions like eczema it’s very dependant on the person as to which product will or won’t work in what way. In your research did you find anything that suggests perhaps we focus a little too much on ‘cleanliness’ instead of health?

I found the soap opera fact super interesting, didn't know that! if you guys ran a soap opera, what would it be called? (also wonder who'd be the designated villain 👀)

Hey guys, great video! Soap related question: Did you ever thought to consider the cultural differences respecting hygiene? I come from a place where water is abundant, so we tend to shower at least once if not multiple times a day and always using soap, but I've met people from other countries who find washing yourself once per day pretty odd.

One of the top comments on the YouTube video right now (which was not my comment) says "I feel like y’all need to have a series called “The Rabbit Hole” where y’all just tell us about all the research and things you found that didn’t make it into the video" and I don't have an actual question related to that but I'd like that to be addressed in the aftershow because it seems like an interesting idea and something you've mentioned similarish things to before.

Hi Answer in Progress team. First time commenting! You briefly touched upon colorism in the skin care industry, and showed a few “old timey” advertisements of skin lightening products. As I’m sure you’re aware, the skin lightening industry is still huge today, and markets mostly to peoples of color. Did you make an editorial choice to only show advertisements from decades ago? Also, as three peoples of color yourselves, have you ever felt a familial or cultural or societal pressure to use any of these skin lightening products, in an effort to fit into a more classically western(white) beauty standard? My wife, who grew up in a southeast Asian family in the 90s/early 2000s said that she certainly felt those pressures. Maybe this would be a great idea for a future video.

I'm always curious about the process of finding a question to answer or finding out where we've arrived and then trying to trace things back. How did the arc/questions in this video come about? Was the original idea any different than how it ended up after more research?

can you talk about the creative process behind the thumbnail photo? what is that thing under sabrina's eye, how many shots did it take to get to that one? where did you find all those soap adverts? they are brilliant!
