I had a similar reaction on my first listen Birb, didnt truely hit me until the third listen and now I cant get the songs out of my head, amazing musicianship and songwriting. If you ever get the chance to see them live, I highly reccomend checking them out. Thanks for reacting to another great Aussie band 🤘

2026-02-13 05:20:50 +0000 UTCI started listening to this band after they put out Themata. Earliest I’ve EVER been to the party, especially considering they’re Aussie and I’m in the Midwest. When Sound Awake came out, it absolutely blew my mind. I saw Karnivool twice in Chicago around then and they both times was incredible. They are just as tight live but even more massive sounding. Unreal musicians and great guys too.

Ian Kennys vocals really resonate with me in every way they dont for you and thats why music is so wonderfully subjective. Im gonna trust my ears on this one though . Karnivool rocks. I'm a little suprised it didn't click as much as I'd hoped it would, but hey that's just how it is. I'm stoked on this one after all this time and feel blessed to have been able to see them many times now in Perth.

2026-02-10 13:34:17 +0000 UTCI'm in agreeance with you. This isn't really of my taste. I do like a lot of bands this band is compared to, like Tool or The Ocean. But the reason is those bands are able to add a lot more variety than what this band is doing. They are able to add extra aggression which resonates with me a lot more. I find this album very akin to modern Alterbridge or even Creed, in that, they are fine rock songs, but lack that extra edge to keep me coming back.

2026-02-10 01:18:09 +0000 UTCThank you Birb for giving this a chance, I’m one of the ones who was voting for Sound awake on the polls EVERY time😭 But seriously it can be a massive investment of time to listen to full album from a band your not that sure on so to see that you gave the full experience it’s due I appreciate, this band has always been an album experience band in my opinion And as someone who passionately loves this band I haven’t waited anywhere near 13 years for it but I can safely say it was everything and more I could’ve hoped for And I’m seeing them live in May🤩 Cheers Birb🍺
