Everyone's said it but mate, you NEED to listen to her first album Preacher's Daughter. It's exceptional and a lot more sonically diverse than this one.

2026-01-30 23:24:37 +0000 UTCIn my experience, coming to this from Preacher’s Daughter (which is one of my all-time favorite concept albums - with attached lore) made all the difference. It made the pacing more purposeful. I can see how if one came cold into this is might hit wayyyyy different. I also think you should consider Preacher’s Daughter IF you would consider following the story ALONG with the listen (most easily and concisely found through Genius).

2025-12-19 21:11:43 +0000 UTCYes, it reminds me of The Last of Us too. Just remember the way TLoU part 2 ending made you feel and channel that. That's how I started loving her music! I think that this album was made to put you in a trance hence all the interludes. Preacher's Daughter is less interlude heavy so you might like it more. Tempest is a beautiful climax to all of that and glad you appreciated that song. I'll agree, some parts do drag, but Tempest is like the White Walls BTBAM of this album. Climax you remember the most, and I think it was written to be that way ❤️ (Also love Waco, Texas. But that song feels like the breath of fresh air after the climax that is Tempest)

2025-12-19 00:38:41 +0000 UTCalbum of the year personally. what’s interesting about ethel is that she writes all of the instrumental sections herself and produces everything as well. truly one of the best (if not the best) artists of this generation… not to mention how she released another album earlier this year (drone album) just to show how diverse she can be
