TDL Arc 2.5 Concepts/Sketches
Added 2024-02-03 20:00:01 +0000 UTCI thought about posting this before I started Chapter 16, but I wanted to save the first image till after Ambre-minus-Talent appeared in the comic itself. It was pretty much just me figuring out what her color palette would be.
Now, onto the text dump for Plasma! Danger! Bright!
I intended it to be set sometime in Arc 4/Arc 6, which is why, in these sketches, the Defectors are all the same age they are in modern TDL (currently set in 2016). The basic premise stayed the same: they're offered a lot of money to do some shady science and Sarah–the only bastion of morality in the group (half-assed morality, at that)–convinces them to abstain not for the greater good of humanity but because they care about her friendship more than money.
I didn't have much planned aside from that, so it was easy to take those ideas and plop them into the mysterious area of Pre-Canon, as a sort of high-stakes character study. It was fun to write! I like how shitty these guys are! (And they were even worse back then, lol.)
