Concept art! It's mostly just character designs.
Leah is a character who's drifted in and out of this story. She was only Mio's cousin in this iteration, though. In all the others, she was just a good friend!
I don't think she popped up at all in the final version of the pitch. Maybe if I ever come back to it, we'll see her again?
I changed Mio's friends a lot for this iteration of the pitch (more in terms of personality and roles). I don't think I'll ever write them that way again, but I do like these designs, and it was fun tweaking their personalities!
I'd also started color coding the characters at this time. It's kind of a basic character design choice, but I really do love some good one/two-note color schemes...
This was me trying to figure out how to make a character look their age. Also, figuring out Mio's middle school design. I think I did pretty well...
And these are just doodles. Fun!
