Bringing Disappearing Old Eps to Patreon / Apple Loses App Store Lawsuit

First, a TL;DR: We're going to start uploading the oldest E1s to Patreon, once a week on Sundays, since they're disappearing from certain public feeds. Also, Apple lost a lawsuit over their exorbitant app store fees, which I posted about last year, and it's now illegal for them to put a 30% fee on top of every Patreon sub.

Long version:

For a few months now, people have pointed out that the earliest E1 episodes are disappearing from the feeds on Spotify, Apple, etc. It seems they cap their feeds to the 500 most recent episodes (when I checked I saw that this is true of shows like Chapo and Uhh Yeah Dude as well, so not a problem unique to us) so ~40 of our earliest have disappeared, and they're going to keep disappearing. They're all still available directly on SoundCloud, but you have to scroll for them and it's a pain. Patreon has said they're going to add the ability to backdate podcast episodes, meaning eventually we'll be able to upload them here in an unobtrusive way, but we've been waiting for months and it hasn't happened yet. So we're planning to start releasing 1 a week each Sunday on Patreon, so we can finally work toward the Patreon feed being the one true comprehensive feed for everything we've ever done.

And in other news, we all owe a debt of gratitude to Epic Games for winning a lawsuit against Apple's truly egregious 30% app store fees. Those fees have been around for a long time, but late last year Apple declared that they apply to all Patreon subs made through their app store, and it's nice to see that there are still SOME limits to coercive monopoly power. In Patreon's own statement about it, they point out that Apple is surely going to try to appeal this, but in the meantime the fees have already been removed and it's likely that this should be the end of this story.
