help save my mom's life

hi friends,

i'm sure many of you have seen my recent post online, if not, please read on below. for those who have already registered, shared, sent love--my family and i are bursting with gratitude and hope because of you. thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

my mom is fighting to beat bone marrow cancer and we need your help to save her life.

my mom has a rare bone marrow cancer called myelofibrosis. she needs a blood stem cell transplant as soon as possible, and in order to do that we need to find her perfect match. all it takes is a cheek swab to see if it could be you.

my mom is the actual light of the sun manifested in human form. she has more energy and effort and love and creativity than should be possible for any one person to possess, let alone such an adorably tiny one. her main goal in life is to spread happiness, and she fulfills this every single day. she is our everything. she has so many more drawings to draw, peopleโ€™s days to make, projects to dream up, cookies to bake, grandchildren to meet. please help us keep her here.

ways you can help:

1. head to our page to get a free swab kit sent to you. swab and return asap! (if youโ€™re outside of the US, links are provided at bottom of our page for local registries!)

2. share this message far and wide! in most countries it is free and easy to register to become a bone marrow/blood stem cell donor. the more people around the world that register, the more lives will be saved.

3. if thereโ€™s any way you think you could help, please reach out! our brains are admittedly not at their best at the moment and weโ€™ll take all the support we can find ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

some other things worth noting:

- my mom is japanese and therefore has a better chance of matching with someone who is also japanese. if you know anyone with japanese blood, please pass this along! (that said, her perfect match could be anyone of any race, so ideally everyone under the sun gets on the registry!)

- AAPI folks (as well as other people of color) are underrepresented in the bone marrow registry so it can be MUCH harder for them to find a match. letโ€™s fix this!

thank you thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart.

with love and endless gratitude,

kina

I wanted to register, but I'm not eligible, unfortunately, bc of my chronic illness. But I wish you and your Mom the best of luck in finding a match and I'll share it! Sending lots and lots and lots of love โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ

Registered and requested the kit. I'm 1/4 Japanese paternally. I hope I am able to help

I am sorry that I am not eligible to register in Canada, the age limit is 35. I have been sharing your post on social media as well. I am thinking of your Mom and your family Kina, I hope she is able to find a match soon. โค๏ธ

My mother fought myelofibrosis for over 15 years. Life has had a filter of sadness since I lost her in November (due to other health complications). I've joyously watched the numbers climb on your page, bringing awareness to this lesser known illness. I'm believing for healing for your mother and others as a result of this.

I've been in the registry for decades. I called a few years ago and they said no need to re-register. If you hear otherwise, please let me know.

thank you so much๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™
