It's 2020! Hi! Kicking off the year with a cover of Damien Rice's "Cannonball" :) Hope you enjoy it. Side note--for any Damien fans out there, have you seen my "Volcano" cover from back in the day? I was feeling nostalgic and looked it up... and that video is TWELVE YEARS OLD. I'm always a bit mortified all my old stuff still exists on the internet, but for some reason it feels wrong to erase the journey. If you wanna see baby Kina sing "Volcano", you can do so here.

In other other news, I wrote a new song, and have started tracking it, and am generally starting to feel like these new songs need to be out in the world already! I've been slowly chipping away at the mental walls I have around working on the new songs. It's hard not to feel precious about them, hard not to worry they won't be well-received, or that they're just not good at all, but I'm trying to remind myself that my job is just to let them find me, put as much love into them as I can, and then give them to you. Not much else I can do. So hopefully I'll be making more progress there soon :)

As for me--I'm doubling down on daily meditation again, walking more, reading more, trying to be more cognizant of the unhelpful stories my brain tries to write (and subsequently trying to let them go), and of course wanting to get new music out into the world this year! Would love to hear where you all are at and what you're hoping for/who you want to be this year :)

Question for you (or others who happen to be reading this and know): do you put up mp3s for any of the tunes? For example, I love this cover, he’s a great songwriter, and your voice makes me just..it’s velvet! But I can’t always stream. How do YOU guys listen repeatedly to Kina?

Current 2020 goals include planning what job life is going to look like as i transition out of the military, grind harder on my voice acting craft and grow that into a possibly income earning thing of awesomeness, and really focus on my relationship to get closer and more in sync with my wife! While you may be critical of it, I think I speak for everyone when I say that we love it just as much as when you first shared it. You may have grown, but those videos haven't lost their magic over time. :) 2020 is starting out well. This weekend I'm performing in West Side Story alongside Tony Award winner Wilson Jermaine Heredia (Angel in RENT). My goal this year is to stop being miserable and find a new job. In doing so, I'll be able to get back my social life, artistic life, and health (and so much more).

Your interpretation especially tugs at my heartstrings <3 Happy 2020! Mine is starting off half awesome half rough so it balances out? I want to be more present as well, get better at running and cooking, and in general achieve my career/hobby goals without burning myself out :)

As for plans and goals for this new year, I will go back to uni to study a Master in Interpretation, finally, which is what I would love to do, and I will quit my job, since I don’t particularly enjoy it.
