New Behind The Songs! "Beth"

Episode 8 is here! To be honest, making this one really threw me for a loop. I'm so used to revealing all of my own stuff on the internet, but knowing what to share and what not to share when including another person in the story is really tough! I found myself tip toeing around the words, afraid for anything to ever be taken the wrong way, trying to hear it what I was saying through YOUR ears, through Beth's ears, through the ears of other members of our family... and needless to say, my brain kept getting jumbled. I *think* I shared some stuff that made sense?! Maybe not. You be the judge.
Any of you struggle with keeping walls up around yourself and being able to really let people in? Any of you know someone you desperately want to chip away at but don't know how?! This is tricky territory! Both sides can be a challenge, but ultimately, you know I'm always gonna be team #breakdownthosewalls!
I'm going away on a retreat this weekend with some of my dear friends (you've heard me talk about them I'm sure! Kate McGill, Marié Digby and Mree!) and I'm sure we will be doing a lot of wall breaking there too! (Not real walls... mental/emotional walls!) We also went on a huge rant last night about how insanely grateful we are to have the support of patrons and how incredibly insane it all is. After years of learning time and again that labels and people in the industry have rarely had our best interests in mind--to discover that all we ever needed were the people who have been supporting us all along--it's HUGE and beautiful and mind-blowing. Thank you for supporting art you believe in and allowing people like us to create it in ways that feel good and are true to ourselves. THANK YOU!!!

Ah, life is hard and the reality behind the business industry is very disappointing, any industry, I think (music, food, any industry)... As for the relationships between people, even between the best people in the world, I think it would still be possible to hurt each other... 😩 The key to harmonious relationships is openness but also forgiveness, I think (besides a great amount of love, love, love...!)

It takes me some time before I can get comfortable sharing my thoughts and feelings with others, but I'm working on it and I think I am getting better with it. 2019-09-26 23:34:35 +0000 UTCAs soon as I heard 'Beth' I knew it was special, and to learn that it's about reaching out to the people who you have such loud love for, who never seem to hear it, makes it all the more special. I think constantly about how to express my love/appreciation/adoration for people and this song echoes that perfectly. I love 'Beth', and I love the people in my life who make me want to tell them that.
