a podcast for you!

hey all!

popping in from pajama land to let you know that my episode of the we dive deeper podcast is out ♡ kate mcgill, whom i adore to no end, started this podcast in order to skip past the small talk and get to the real stuff—and that we did. so grateful to have had the opportunity to chat with her about (and further process) some of the heavier moments of my life, namely my experience in jakarta potentially facing jail time and dealing with my mom’s diagnosis with a rare blood disease when i was in high school.

you can tune in here: https://linktr.ee/wedivedeeper

her other episodes are so great as well, so if you have time, check them out! and if you fall in love with kate as much as i have, you can also find her here on patreon where she's making beautiful music in addition to this amazing podcast.

sending lots of love to you all today <3 <3

Kina, Haven't been on here too long. Missed your concert here in VA. TT {Jesse don't get mad here} Just figured out why you are such a beautiful person inside and out. I didn't know this till today but you're half-asian (Japanese). Your parents put together some beautiful genes. Anyway, thanks for all the beautiful sounds.

Five kleenex. I love how Kate makes you laugh. I had been planning on taking today off anyway. I poured a princely glass of wine and made nachos. The whole point is to skip the small talk, but I figured there's the intro part from Kate and the setup so I've got a solid chance of finishing before the tears start. Seven minutes in I was literally licking my fingers when you spoke of fear, and your voice broke, and so did I. You surprise me often. It was profoundly moving but no surprise that while talking about the BIGGEST CHALLENGE OF YOUR LIFE you would take multiple asides to note the struggles of your friend and your sisters and your parents. My brother is in Africa. He's planning to come home. Nothing is promised. There's a moment in Hamilton where two of the Schuyler sisters are reunited and elated, and I cry absolutely every time I hear them shriek with joy. And they're not even real! (They technically were real.) So hearing you say 'hugging my sisters' was the bottom for me. And we climbed. Annnnnnd we went right back down. When you speak of your mom coming home I remember my dad walking up the stairs from the driveway so slowly It was the end of winter, unusually late. My brothers and I had shoveled it all. What else could we do? My younger brother went from the hospital to the shoveling to the SAT taking. Six kleenex. I helped carry my dad's chair upstairs. I would have dragged it to the hospital with my teeth. But I couldn't say anything to him? That's what teeth are for, not the other thing. Seven, time to wrap it up. I'm so happy you did this. I'm so happy you do things like this. I'm so happy Kate is going to have more of these. Sorry doesn't come from sorrow, it comes from sore, and sore means we just exerted and once rested we'll be so much stronger. Looking forward with such eagerness to how much stronger even you will become.

I listened to the podcast as soon as I finished my work for the day. Although the topics were heavy, I somehow found the conversation to be soothing, as if you and Kate were having the conversation in my living room. I only saw the video later, and didn't know that you actually did record the video in a living room set-up! Thank you for sharing about such difficult experiences and thank you for the much-needed company this evening! Love you Kina! <3

loved this, you are an amazing storyteller <3

I watched it on YouTube just now, and there were lots of moments when I wished I could just reach out through my screen and hug you.

This is so wonderful Kina! I cannot wait to listen intently during my subway commute.

it's really great, Kina! ❤️
