New Video: Colorblind (Counting Crows Cover)

Hey everyone!

I just realized it's been 6 months since I posted a cover!? Where has the time gone!?

I stumbled upon this old gem by the Counting Crows recently and immediately felt the need to sing it. After doing some digging online, I learned the song was written about his struggle with a thing called depersonalization--a term I very recently learned existed, though I had experienced it throughout my life. I won't go into it all here since I talk about it at the end of the video, but needless to say, the song means even more to me now. If I've piqued your interest, here's the original post I wrote about learning about depersonalization/derealization, and my personal relationship to it. Yay for mental health awareness!

Geckos and up can download the "Colorblind" MP3 here :)

Hey can I give a mega shout out to everyone who made it to our giant Coffee Date hangout this week?! It was so fun! If you missed it and want to watch the recording, you can do that here.

Also, thank you to everyone that chimed in regarding the Slack vs Discord debate. After taking in everyone's input, I think we'll give Discord a try (...once I learn how to do that ;) )! Once it's set up I'll let you all know and then we can go hang out and chat in our new little home and it will be glorious.

Many thanks to all of you for your support and company! As always, to any newbies out there, feel free to say hi and introduce yourself in the comments :)

Sending lots of love <3

have you set up discord yet?

You are incredibly talented!

Thank you, really nice.

Thank you for sharing.

Hi Kina, I wanted to tell you how proud of you that I am. I know your journey has not been easy. I have been watching, commenting, supporting since before the Super Bowl. I have had some exposure to various stages of mental illnesses and emotional and anxiety symptoms both in my family and ex-wives. I know that as a fellow creative, you are probably higher up in the sensitive scale than most. Perhaps more susceptable to the sway of your emotions than many and although traveling to the depths of your soul, helps you create some of the most amazing lyrics and music, it also makes you FEEL more deeply than the average homo sapien can even imagine. Just remember that we love you. Just remember that you are not alone. I don't know what your views of God are, but you are never alone. Trust me. P.S. I love the longer hair!!! You look amazing and you sound angelic. Sending you a big brotherly hug and much Aloha!

Just so beautiful. thank you Kina.

One of my favorite Counting Crows songs. Beautiful!

Listening to you sing is like being hugged by a dear friend.

Beautiful cover, glad to be back as a patreon. I was briefly a patreon a while ago, finances changed, so now I have to be very selective who I support. Anyway, HI and thank you for the audio welcome message :) Looking forward to your posts. I'd write a little about myself, but honestly, I'm just an average American middle aged human making my way through life like everyone else :) Plus I'm not very good at being social, in real life I'm a lot of an introvert.

well said :)

I am playing your song I will Spend My Whole Life Loving You ... your voice is like a rose petal, smooth like satin, silk, velvet, rich, happy, bubbly, soul food, encouraging, luminescent , Angelic ... keep on doing what you love... Blessings ....

We are slowly transitioning away from "people with X are victims" to "people with X are growing". It's the difference between a label and a definition: One is a box, the other is a step toward the power of knowledge. I "came out" about my depression nearly 30 years ago, and at the time some thought of it as one step away from suicide, an unbearable and miserable existence. Which it isn't. It's only that I'm sometimes not as able to communicate or emote as I am at other times. Meaning I sometimes need more quiet and alone time than others. That, and the therapy and meds, of course. Discussing those things, and figuring out how to discuss them, did much to let my friends be better friends. Which is really all I wanted, so they'd be at ease when I had to withdraw for a while.
