Exclusive First Listen: "For Now" (Reimagined)

A bit of backstory: A couple years ago, Jesse (AKA Imaginary Future/my husband) began collaborating with a guy named Christoph Andersson on a musical project called Jome (which, btw, is pretty much the best). Christoph's production immediately grabbed me, like it was some lost musical language from my past. It felt reminiscent of some of my favorites--Imogen Heap, Japanese House, Sigur Ros. Christoph also happens to be one of the loveliest humans out there and is now a dear friend I am so grateful to have in my life :) Anyway, after admiring his and Jesse's work on Jome for years, it hit me. I NEEDED TO WORK WITH CHRISTOPH.
The idea was that I would send Christoph the vocal stems to some of my songs off the new album and let him create a new world around them. As you probably know by now, my songs are my babies. The versions you hear of them on the new album are my songs in their purest form, the way they were born, with my heart and soul and tears poured into every last note. But one of the magical and powerful things about songs is how they can shape-shift and transform and take on new emotions/meanings/etc. I loved the idea of getting to give some of my songs a second life with the help of a friend whose musicianship I admire and trust (and obsess over) as much as Christoph's.
When he sent me back the work he'd done on "For Now" I was floored. It felt like an entirely different song, yet with the same essence buried in there. Hearing this song in a new light allowed me to learn even more from it. Every time I listen I feel like I'm hearing new things and feeling everything a bit more deeply. Long story short (or, looking back, I guess not so short) I am so incredibly excited about this collaboration and so honored to have his hands grace some of my songs.

This is really great! I love how he has changed the track completely, but it is still so subtle and complimenting, not overpowering

It's slower and more contemplative than the original, which to me seems more upbeat and simply glad to be alive. It also strangely reminds me of the days oh so long ago as a child playing Megaman Xπ
