New Video: We'll Be Okay - Imaginary Future & Me

For some of you this song goes way back to Jesse's first EP (The Imaginary EP), and for some of you this song might be brand new! Either way, I have a little tale to tell.

Some time ago, Jesse wrote this song, recorded a rough demo, and emailed it to me without a word in the body of the email. This was still super early in Jesse's writing career, so a song from him was a BIG deal and a BIG surprise. I opened the email, probably cried a bit, had the idea to add some harmonies for him, recorded them, and sent the song back, also without a word. It was a very cool and special moment for both us as a couple and us musically. 

Fast forward to earlier this week. After we shot the video, Jesse and I spent a bit of time trying to accurately remember this song's origin story. (For some of that debate, see the outro on Jesse's upload.) The (my) general consensus was that it happened right after I'd graduated college and moved to Austin, TX. 

So I did a little sleuthing on my old email address, and to my delight, I found out I was super right ;) But more than that, the email exchange revealed that this took place EXACTLY 10 years ago--to the day!! To add to the weirdness of it all, today also happens to be our 4 year wedding anniversary, a fact neither of had realized upon scheduling this release. And to tie it all together, "We'll Be Okay" is a song about how no matter what life throws at us, we will get through it together--we'll be okay. So it turns out Jesse was very very right, and here we are today, 4 years into our marriage, 10 years after this song was written, and 14 years deep in our relationship, and I think we're doing pretty darn okay ;)
