I've been looking at other artists with major Patreon support, not just musicians, but also essayists, poets, dancers, web comics, and other kinds of artists and media. The biggest difference I see, and the one most noted by both artists and patrons, is that the Patreon support gives the artist a massive degree of independence and artistic freedom, and freedom from outside demands and pressures. So, instead of getting "More of the Same" (MotS), the need to stay "in their genre" to avoid alienating "fans", I'm instead seeing more "out there" collaborations, more experimentation, more "deep dives" into things like single-theme albums or collections. More evolution, more revolution, more risk-taking. But there is one very special niche that hit me out of the blue: Female artists (mostly) who want it all: a life-partner, a family, and a wide-open artistic career, all going full blast. It's not just the music, or the videos, or the next tour. It's about life, living, giving and enjoying. The big picture. Real freedom, life freedom, not just artistic freedom. I really believe that's what we need to be about. Cherishing and nurturing talent in the context of the full life of the artist.

One nice thing about this being posted when I'm at work is I could listen in headphones and pick up a bunch of pieces I didn't notice listening to it yesterday, for example the little flyaway harmony in the second verse. A surprise treat! :)
