Kina Diaries: Writing again at last!

Hi friends,

Sorry it's been a minute since I last checked in! I had an amazing time over the holidays with my family, and since the start of the year I've been back home, getting life in order, getting back to a non-cookie-and-ice-cream fueled existence, AND, as you might have seen on twitter in the last couple days, getting back to making music.

Since coming home from Jakarta a little over 1 year ago, I had not once sat down to write. I had made zero space in my life for that. Luckily for me, a few songs somehow pushed themselves through the cracks anyway, but I still went a full year without the intention to write, and with SO much (in theory) to write about. It was a weird.

Thanks to a plan I made with Darla (my drummer/friend/Jakarta sister) to do a little at home "songwriting retreat" this week, I made time. I made space. And holy moly. It's as if these songs had been swirling around in me for the past year just dying to get out. In 2 days I completed 4 new songs. Each one in about an hour and a half. Now I've cracked the seal, and I am feel so ready and excited to meet more of them.

My plan is to start recording at least some of these new songs very soon so I can share them with you all. But first... I might need to spend a little bit more time poking around to see how many more little songs are waiting to be born.
