The ancient remains of the magical city of Val Erna, discovered this time, also have such legends.

According to the legend, there is a “mirror that shows wishes,” and if you look into the mirror, you can see them. How can we make our wishes come true?

It is not unusual for dungeons and ruins to be the subject of rumors like this. But this time, the location is particularly bad. These ruins were too close to the city.

It would be fine if it were only insolent treasure hunters who dreamed of making a fortune, but even the opposition, or citizens who had sold their hearts out, might try to get their hands on the remains. If that happens, all hell will break loose.

そのような魔法の噂話は、常に人々の間にあった。

願いを叶える魔人。世界を変える魔法陣。無限の魔力を生み出す杖。

噂から噂に、物語から願望へ。人々の欲望を映し出すように、そういった話は伝播し続けていた。

今回発見された魔法都市ヴァルエルナの古代遺構にも、そういった類の伝説があった。

曰く、「願いを見せる鏡」があり、その鏡を覗き込みさえすれば見えるのだという。どのようにすれば願いを叶えることが出来るか、が。

「こいつぁ……早いとこ対処しねえといけねえな」

ギルドマスターベアセスは地図を見ながらひとりごちた。

このような噂が立つダンジョンや遺跡は珍しくない。だが今回は特別立地がまずい。この遺構は、あまりに街から近すぎるのだ。

一攫千金を夢見た不埒なトレジャーハンターだけならばまだいいが、食い詰めた野党や、心に傷を売った市民までもが遺構に手を出しかねない。そうなれば、待っているのは大混乱だ。

できるだけ早く身元が確かなギルドが制圧し、噂話の真偽（往々にして偽で終わる）を確定せねばならない。

「まあ厄介魔物はいなさそうだ、俺達の腕がありゃ誰が挑んでも楽勝だろう」

スピードは要されるが、難度はたいしたものではない。

ただ…………。

「願いを叶える……じゃなくって、見せる……か。変わった噂だな」

大抵の場合噂話というのは都合がよく歪曲されるものである。

それなのに、願いを見せるに留まるというところがどうにも引っかかった。

あるいは、眉唾とは言い切れないかもしれない。
