I had this one sitting in my notes for a while but was putting it off because it contains my biggest phobia when drawing comics…… a large crowd of people lol. I talk about this at greater length in my process video for the Flyer, but essentially if I know there’s going to be a panel which has >4 people in it, I’m always like uggggghhhhhg alright. This is a busy one but I’m happy with how it came out and ultimately it was very fun to draw. I’ve been playing around more recently with the use of light refraction/“bokeh” effect- basically the orbs of light which show up in photography with bright lights. Where it fits the tone, I’m trying to include them to add an extra layer of brightness/intensity. In this case I used them in the last panel as the “camera” is panned slightly upward towards the gym ceiling.

2025-08-14 13:28:15 +0000 UTCI don’t know if everyone notices it as much as I do, but the photography lighting effects really do level up the comic. My favourite panel you’ve ever drawn is the “UPS truck with 4000 helium balloons” and the lens flare always cracks me up, I don’t even know why.
