BTS - American Hustle Life EP. 2 Reaction - WhatchaGot2Say

There is nothing and I mean NOTHING like Kim Taehyung's Coolio impression!!!
Join us as we watch AHL EP. 2...
Hope you are enjoying this with us Whatcher FAM!
I'm glad this one was more lighthearted than Episode 1. Even though it sucked to see Jin and SUGA paired with someone who wasn't putting any effort into the team project. It sucked seeing them in that position, but props to Jin for being so level-headed, and making sure they stopped filming when SUGA was feeling done. I seriously laughed so much, though, when Tae came in with the Coolio pigtails hahah. I've never seen that clip anywhere before. Gosh, he's so innocent and pure and full of joy in these earlier pieces of content....I love seeing that. He still has that way about him now in some ways, but you see it even more so in these early years.

There are so many ways to teach that inspires without belittling a person. Calling V a disadvantage was an unnecessary tear down. He would very harshly insult them and then play it off like it was a lesson. What if your teacher said your're the stupidest moron and im naming you dickhead!" Then says " but you're going to be alright..I'm gonna set you straight." It's demeaning...and hurtful and embarrassing.

gotta say, i have to give extra props to Jin and Suga. i would've been so DONE after that type of day trying to plan/prep with a very uncooperative 3rd member but they remained patient and tried to make things work w Dante until the very end. and ofc props to RM and V who tried to do the cooking challenge even tho both of them are not the cooking type. (and i'll just say it, V as coolio was so cute! awww)

I survived! Just another 1 or 2 cringy pieces left and then I can enjoy the rest of the series. AJJ looked how I feel. I don't mind the missions but I did feel like Coolio was trying to teach them something they already knew. Kpop in general and BTS specifically, do not cut corners or skate by. Coolio noticed as much when he said that they were fairly polished as a group already. So basically he is trying to explain what they already do and not in the best way possible. Especially when you compare him to Warren G! But hey I guys you can learn from a bad teacher too, right?

I really admired how they continued to entertain even though the person they were performing for was acting extremely rude. It’s really showed how resilient they are. And I for one....found them very entertaining 🤓

Also i would like to think that this helped pushed the direction that they shouldn’t be only limited to purely hip hop. to grow beyond that and see how everyone’s other individual and unique talents could shine and then bank on that... and yeah Dante really stinks. Coolio i can maybe still charge it to whatever he’s trying to project for the show. But with Dante I think it’s just plain lack of basic respect and attitude that really stinks. I low key hope a couple of early agust D dis track verses were aimed for him, haha

Honestly it was so unfair that they expect the team of tae and RM to compete in s cooking competition when they had 0 experience and skill for it back then. It’s like that saying you know that you shouldn’t judge a fish by how good it can climb a tree or something, because then it’llb really feel stupid. I’m just glad this did not extinguish tae’s playful and innocent spirit at all. It’s really commendable how They really gave it their best shot in the only way they knew how. And no matter how disappointing was the reaction to their performance, they really even stick it out to finish. The show must go on!

Dante was such an arrogant arsehole, didn't help prepare at all but hindered them and when he was so disrespectful and whacked Jin with the ostrich, I was very proud of Seokjin for being so mature and level headed.
I felt sorry for Tae. Demeaning people doesn't build confidence! The rest of the episodes are much better.
I always laugh at how persistent Tae and RM were at finishing their performance with such flair, even though Coolio refused to look at them most of the time...lol. Kudos to them for not giving up. 🤣
I was glad to see you guys were not impressed at times as well. Enjoyed your reactions as always.

i will forever hold jin to the highest respect with how he handled Dante. he's always so level-headed and warm to everyone but knows when to draw the line. i would cry if he looked at me the way he did at Dante when he hit Jin w the ostrich. Dante WACK

Hello, I just became a Patreon so I’ve been trying to catch up to all of your BTS Run and AHL reactions, but I have to admit, I couldn’t finish watching this, it made me so uncomfortable, the way the boys were being treated. Especially Taehyung; he was the most energetic, happy member back then, but you can still see it in his face how confused and uncomfortable he was feeling. Then there is the cultural differences to consider, too. Age is an important factor in Korean social culture, so even if the boys were feeling uneasy or if the instructors were going too far, their teachings and customs would make it hard for them to speak up for themselves and each other; they were so young. I know it’s been stablished that this series are like hip hop bootcamp for them, but still, it wasn’t really the army for them to act like drill sergeants like that. It’s been years, but I still can’t handle it. Everybody deserves to be treated with respect, no matter the circumstances.

AHL was a trip. I agree with you that some of it was for the camera. I realised this especially when Coolio scolds V and immediately looks at him and consoles him. Things were made a bit more dramatic coz it's a show. But everytime I watch this I realise how much the boys still remember the lessons they learned. Like anything you create should be pleasing and well done in all areas. Or not to do it for fame or money. The next episodes get deeper and more educational. I love them more because of the trainers they meet. It really helps the boys grow. Especially Jin and V who were really insecure about their dancing and singing up until then.
And as always, I enjoy watching this again with you guys!! Much love! 🙂💜

When this first premiered a lot of ARMY's had an issue with it, but most of us got what what going on. In an interview for some SK magazine thing, the guys said Coolio was actually really nice to them and that they were happy how it turned out.
Now, did Coolio need to be that tough? Maybe not. But Coolio is known for being on the more serious end of HipHop world. I mean come on... they guy wouldn't let Weird Al make 'Amish Paradise' At first because he thought Weird Al was trying to make fun of his song.
Obviously they got it sorted out and all and Weird Al was able to release it but Coolio still was bothered by it.
He was there to be the tough guy, that's the thing some don't/didn't understand. This was supposed to be a bootcamp about the hip hop culture. Not just the music itself but the reason for the music.
Forgot to add that the only person who was an issue was Dante, and he's the one who pissed me off when I watched this when it premiered. Years later and it still pisses me off. Yoongi was pissed, Jin was angry. There was no reason for Dante to act like that.
Also to add.... Tony, Nate, and Dante are the main Mentors, and then they bring in special mentors. They don't assist Coolio or anyone. Tony and Nate were mostly in charge and they're both super nice and cool with BTS.

I'm so glad that you guys are watching American Hustle Life I loved this episode yeah he's hard sometimes but I love kind of the lessons that he's teaching them because it just kind of explains obviously they were already good people but it explains where their mindset kind of came from when it comes to like performing and being humble and doing it for the art and not the fame and the fortune and that is just awesome and Priceless I'm so glad that you guys are watching this I can't wait for the next episode thank you so much💜💜💜💜,Love you guys and Love your content

I know some people hate this because of the iffy moments but this show will always be dear to me. It’s just so interesting to see young BTS out of their element. And I think there’s actually a lot of good things that come out of this series. Yeah, Coolio was a bit dramatic but he actually made a lot of good points, in his own weird way 😂 Also, BTS are strong people. Dante definitely needed to go, but besides that, a lot of this is just fun and games. BH has pretty much always looked out for BTS and quickly gotten rid of anyone who would actually harm them. I figure if BTS went through the effort of recording all this, we should enjoy the good parts and leave the bad parts!

Did yall catch the part where coolio told RM that he expected more from him and said the only reason why he was loosing is because v gave him a disadvantage, he literally was like I know you got him on your team so your kind of at a disadvantage
Idk i felt like the whole time coolio was there he showed nothing bu disrespect for V he had no respect for him and he was rude and cruel to him for no reason

I agree that Coolio was a bit hard on V but tbh, hip-hop wasn't about love in Coolio's day, it was about how hard it was and that you had to rise up and say something. It was easier to make it into something people would hear every day than to stand on a soap box on the street corner. The only thing that I wasn't with Coolio on was the turn up thing, like who cares about that. I think with this they grew to figure out that music is not all fun and games, you are a voice and you are going to be heard.
I know one thing I can agree with Coolio on, that sandwich. Why did it take like 30 or more minutes to make that sandwich? I would have been pissed off too. Don't play with my food lol

2020-04-29 01:27:46 +0000 UTC
Yes! Like i know i might sound stupid or disrespectful but,,,,, the way V was treated, called a clown, dumb, a disadvantage, and constantly being put down makes me so angry and sad. V was 17! And also going to America to learn! You can’t expect him to completely know hip hop and also American culture. He was so polite and receptive, even when Coolio didn’t deserve it. Props to taehyung, it must have been humiliating to be embarrassed like that when he worked hard to try to impress coolio. You could see many times namjoon and the rest of them were humble, but also they could recognize that they were being mistreated.

Also Fam, Hitman Bang the CEO is there in LA. with them. You just dont see him. Remember the Commentary film you reacted to where Map Of The Soul being recorded? It said they recorded an album at the same time filming AHL and they showed footage of BTS recording a there's a quick clip of Hitman Bang producing. Some great moments are coming up very soon that you guys are gonna LOVE!

This episode was hard on me because I felt like Coolio had something against V since the beginning. I don't think he was trying to made fun of Coolio when they first met and Coolio had a false perception of him because of that. V tried his best like always, never complain and had the right attitude even when Coolio said that he was a disavantage to RM. It's a bit unfair to judge people like that. V was mature enought to don't take it personnaly and grow from that experience. He have his value, like all the others. No one can perform like Taehyung in my opinion ;)

I struggled to get through this video because I hate this episode of AHL so much! Lol i had to try and focus hard on you guys instead of the episode because I just kept rolling my eyes at certain parts.
Rewatching this years later with you guys and the anger is still the same. While I understand Coolio may have been going for the “tough love” act, it doesn’t give him an excuse or leeway to be rude (same with Dante). That’s just how I feel. There are better ways of giving tough love and mentoring people without bringing that person down and degrading them (plus you can kinda tell the boys were being belittled a bit because of the language barriers or just differences in cultural mindsets) And it makes me even madder when I see how polite the boys still are in that situation.
Looking at the boys now and seeing what they had to deal with back then really makes me respect them even more. Because looking back at those “missions” Coolio gave them I’ve realized how ridiculous they were and the boys didn’t really want to do it but they did it anyway out of professionalism, plus they were young and rookies and didn’t have much of a say. I’m happy that they now no longer have to deal with these types of people and situations anymore 😤 and I look forward to you guys reacting to the later episodes where they actually learn from real mentors who nurtures their strengths and helps them grow instead!

im pretty bias, tae is my number one favorite human being in the world, but even without the bias, i just dont like when people mock others and dont bother trying to understand someone's personality. Tae was very young here and already has a youthful personality, i know coolio doesnt know him but that's sort of the issue. He was making pressumptions of tae without bothering to think "maybe he has a lighthearted and childlike personality....oh and he's 17, so maybe he's just still young". I get that to outsiders, back then it may seem like Tae wasn't trying, but idk, i hate how the people treat tae like a stupid kid in the show. Thankfully, it gets better. Other than that, i love the show :) one of my favorite bts shows. top three for sure.

2020-04-28 04:24:53 +0000 UTC
I think for Coolio, he didn't feel like Tar was taking any of it seriously, in all fairness. I will agree he was harsh. But I think for him Hip Hop is something that SHOULD be taking seriously because in many aspects it was born from the need to speak out about how they lived.
So I take like he was harsh with Tar because he wanted him to take it seriously if he was going to build being a Hip Hop artist, no matter where it was. In all respects, Coolio was hard because he wanted them to succeed.
And Nico..BANK! he should never ever take off the hat..😂
BTW, not saying Coolio was right, I just understand why he was so harsh.

Its hard seeing them being treated like that by Coolio. However I think some of that was for the camera. Because at times Coolio looked as though he wanted to laugh sometimes it was hard for him to keep a straight face. However from this point on it just keeps getting better. This is my 3rd time watching reactions to AHL. I love seeing the different perspectives. You all had me dying laughing though because of your facial expressions on how BTS was being treated. We love those boyz so much!

It doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing, despite the intent Coolio had with his words, I doubt V or RM hold a grudge against him for it. Ultimately, he came on the show to help them and gave them knowledge, and all of them were able to move on and grow from it.

Hi Guys, so glad you got to watch AHL EP 2. Remember they were rookies. Sometimes starting out may seem a little rough but they have built on that base and look where they are today. They have to prepare themselves for life experiences.
They will be OK. Mr. Bang knew what was going to await them or he would never have sent them. He old them before they left Korea (because they were excited about coming to America) they were coming to work and learn; no play. RM said they would make him proud.

Coolio’s episode honestly just makes me mad every time I watch it 😂 he did them so wrong. And Tony (the tall guy) worked for American Hustle Life. please check out bts bon voyage series its very good. Also love this american hustle reaction. Also american hustle is not my favorite serise of them. I feel like in some parts they treated them badly at and also this was when the members were really young so they don't act like that any more. And bc they were so young it makes me kinda uncomfortable e seeing them treated a little tough on things they didn't do anything bad at. Also there is a language barrier between them so sometimes when they are yelling at them in english Rm basically has to translate all the things to them and that makes me feel sad.And coolio was in some type of mood this episode lol..But great video either way thank u.
