Guys, I don't think Howie thinks counseling is a bad choice in any way. The reason he reacted that way is because he didn't know Sooch was struggling to that point. He isn't saying "you don't need counseling, you need a night out " he's saying "i didn't know it was that bad, maybe this will help " learning that the person you love is struggling to that point can be scary. But it's not a reflection on his take on counseling, it's a reflection of his love ❤️

I think Howie is second guessing counseling because 1. In general society has a negative view of therapy and think it's for extreme cases instead of a healthy thing most people should do. 2. In my opinion Howie both thinks that he's causing misery and can also cause happiness. I believe he thinks that if he was "better" then Sooch would be a-ok but that's a lot of responsibility that partners shouldn't have
