The 4090

Think I should mention this since I plan on raffling it off.

The 4090 is fine. It was only adapter cable that melted and that was on the psu side and not video card side, so the card is completely fine.

Also, I did figure out what caused it.  Something I should of thought about.  I have been mixing multiple power supplies in a system for a long time.. basically since I started 3d rendering years ago.. and yes. even mixing multiple psu's across one card.. its been fine... until the 4090.

I narrowed it down to voltage discrepancies. basically the internal PSU that runs mother board, hard drives, cpu, etc. was dropping down to 11.3v over the 12v rail while the external psu was still running fine at 12.8 while rendering.  so my assumption is when that was happening it was pulling all 400+ watts from the external psu causing those cables to heat up and eventually melt the connectors.

watching voltage and wattage on the 4090 is funny really. I don't play many games anymore except for like CS:GO and the 4090 has so much overhead in that game the card only pulls 120watts when vsynced at 144hz. while rendering it pulls 400watts. simulating clothing for some reason will spike 600 watts in short bursts...
