I am often asked if there is a cheap laser power meter I can recommend. I have not had a good answer so far.
But through the help from one of my Turkish viewers, I may have found one. I bought it for $79 including shipping. That's dirt cheap for an LPM!
In this video, I unbox and demo the laser power meter.
But is it any good? It is unbranded, just sold under the name 'Pocket Laser Power Meter', Chinese and suspiciously cheap. In the upcoming public video I will test it against my $350 Sanwu LPM - which so far has been the one I recommend as best bang-for-the-buck LPM.
Don't want to spoil too much here, but the cheap one is NOT the best or most precise LPM ever. It is however much, much better than having to judge a laser's power by eye or the label on the laser... I may recommend it to hobbyists on a budget that have lasers well under 5 watts (5,000 mW) and looking for their first LPM.
I bought it here (not sponsored): https://www.laserpointerstore.com/products/pocket-laser-power-meter/
Let me know if you know of alternatives I could try!
