Crazy difference between 5W LASER and 5W LED!

All right. It is time to take a closer look at the laser engraver I unboxed in the last video here on Patreon.

But with a twist: I will compare its laser to an LED lamp. Both are based on blue light diodes and advertised as being around 5 watts.

Sounds similar, right? Let's take a closer look at the crazy difference between them...

By the way, welcome to a lot of new patrons. I use your user names on Patreon in the credit section. Comment on Patreon or send me a message if you want to be credited with your full name or nickname in stead.

Laser engraver still donated by Ortur.

So true. Laser safety glasses are not an excuse to be in the laser beam's path. For strong lasers they will only provide a short period of time to get out of the way in case of an accident. I believe the glasses will light up visibly when directly hit - giving you time to close your eyes, duck away and turn off the laser. But I don't know how long it will take the laser beam to melt through the glasses. My safety glasses are OD 9 at 450 nm, meaning they are in theory good enough for a million (!) watt blue laser. But they surely won't protect for long before a 1 megawatt (MW) beam melts through...

I can't help wonder what a laser of that power would do to a pair of safety goggles... I can't imagine the goggles would be able to absorb that amount of concentrated energy for very long at all!
