While we wait for YouTube's servers...

Finally finished the exclusive video for June, but the upload is only averaging 100 Kbps on my 500/500 Mbps connection...
Something is up with YouTube's servers - other websites are working fine on my laptop. At this rate it will take 160 000 hours to upload the 2 GB video?!?

I will try to upload it later. The video features something 'worthless' you may have thrown away many times without realizing what it can be used for.
While we wait, I have a question for you relating to my next public video coming next weekend:

Will a cheap eBay laser pointer have less power output if I use 1.2V rechargeable Ni-MH batteries in stead of 1.5V alkaline batteries?

Comments

You're on the right path. It depends on the driver circuit in the laser pointer. Is it any good in the cheapest laser pointers on eBay? Answer coming Saturday :)

Hmmm... Depends if the driver is relying on the power source's internal resistance as part of the current limit, does it have a charge pump circuit? Will it melt :-D (External camera flash guns recharge much faster on NiHM, but when rechargeables first came out they melted/burnt out some flash guns as the recharge current was much higher than an alkaline could supply, and higher than the designers ever expected).

So your answer is the alkalines will be stronger when fresh but get weaker than the rechargeables after some time? May be true. I will only test with relatively fresh alkalines and rechargeables close to their nominal voltage :)

Alkalines don't give out a continuous voltage
