Highway Blossoms: Next Exit - Cut-in and Background Sneak Peek

Hey everyone, Syon here! As you know, we, along with our friends at Studio Élan, have been diligently working on Highway Blossoms: Next Exit, the all new DLC story coming out later this year. Well, we have another update for you, with even more art assets to show off.

We may have mentioned this in the past (or not -- the coffee has killed my short term memory), but we’re adding cut-ins to the original Highway Blossoms experience, as well as using them in Next Exit. These cut-ins are of objects, food, and important items that appear throughout the story. Amber’s cassette tape will have a cut-in, for example.

But what we haven’t mentioned is that whenever you see these cut-ins, you’ll unlock them in a gallery accessible through the ‘Extras’ section on the main menu. These are special though, because when you view them in the gallery, you’ll also get thoughts and commentary on the object from Marina’s point of view! If you’ve ever played something like Pikmin and have read the logs there, then you’ll get a good idea of what these are like. This is all part of our initiative to make Highway Blossoms not just Amber’s story, but Marina’s as well.

So that’s what we’re showing off today! A few cut-ins (drawn by Adirosa) and Marina’s associated commentary. I hope you enjoy them and look forward to their inclusion when the big update drops!

"Amber was right, this is totally my jam. Speaking of jam, this would be amazing with strawberry jelly on top. "
"One of Tess's most treasured possessions. She collects license plates and puts them together like this. She said that someday, she'll give me one of her windchimes to keep!"
"Arches National Park is so pretty! I wish we could have spent more time sightseeing than sitting in traffic. It’s weird, though. This brochure doesn’t mention Chip Off the Old Block, so I’m not sure how Amber knew about it…"

But that’s not all! We also have our first preview of a background from Next Exit. Most of the DLC takes place at the Stratosphere, a well-known landmark in Vegas that’s even mentioned in the original Highway Blossoms. This is an exterior shot of it and, not gonna like, it’s pretty gorgeous. Makes me want to drive to Vegas and gamble away the $0.25 I make from visual novels every month.

That’s all for now! We’ll come back up here next month and talk more National Park Girls. Until then, stay warm. Seriously, it was, like, 20 degrees here the other night and I live in Southern California. What the hell.

Very cool idea! I love the Pikmin diaries.
