It's exactly what I'll see if I ever start drowning

Sadly, I think Rod always went in unarmed. I'm working on another Royal Variety right now, and a similarly weaponised 90's character is also conspicuously kept out of range.

Grow up (Willy!)

Was Emu ever in a "shake hands with the royal" line? Thank you for the video. Absolutely brilliant.

Dooby was grinding that beak to dust

Christ, Dooby Duck was depressing. And it always seemed to be those puppets artlessly jumping up and down to a version of 'Use It Up And Wear It Out' by Odyssey, as it was here. That or Hues Corporation's 'Rock The Boat'. Because 80s and 90s kids loved those songs, didn't they? The bald eccied guy was an inspired choice, though. Cheers as ever, Stuart.

I imagine Emu finding himself alone in a dressing room with Orville would be like a scene from Scum. Rod keeping watch outside.

Stuart Millard

At least John Dee never had to worry about summoning Barrymore.

Stuart Millard

I watched Dooby Duck on telly precisely once, and the memory of one of those monstrous bastards singing 'Achy Breaky Heart' and crossing their eyes at the end of each line has never left me.

Alison Eales

Christ. Imagine being Emu and finding yourself on the same bill as Orville and Dooby Duck. Like Frank Zappa sharing a stage with Ed Sheeran and Dappy. Great stuff as always. I love New Video Day.

Sadly they're no longer available but there used to be a couple of clips of Dooby Duck's Disco Bus on YouTube from a really badly degraded VHS recording. One of the most unintentionally nightmarish things I've ever seen.

Paul

You are like an alchemist when it comes to these woeful parades of tat. Wonderful job.
