Where the $5 Tier Goes Now

Now that Jangle's concluded, I thought I'd quickly address what happens with the $5 tier going forward.

There are a lot of things I want to write. I'm surrounded by notebooks and word files and scraps of paper with enough ideas for books, screenplays, and miscellaneous media to see me releasing work until my 5,000th birthday. It's like the hideout of John Doe from Se7en here. I'm not saying I'm obsessive about writing, but I carry a flash drive containing every word I've written and every idea I've had since 2001 everywhere I go, in case my house burns down. But there are only so many hours in the day, having to juggle keyboard time with other things I need to do to make money, like dogwalking/sitting.

Time-wise, I'm able to write the $3 tier pieces that end up on my blog, and the $5 exclusives, but I can't do that and work on the novels I've been dying to write for ages. So, for now at least, I've decided the novels will be the exclusives. The $3 posts will be the same weird-bad pop culture deep-dives you signed up for, while the $5 tier will stay exclusively fiction, and its patrons will get regular serialised chapters of my next book.

Bear in mind, I eventually hope to fill this Patreon with a much more varied range of mediums (audio stuff, new comics, video) once I'm financially able, but I'm currently working with a super limited set-up of just my desktop PC, and a cheap burner phone that doesn't even have Snake, so as the heading says, for the moment, Stuart Millard is creating words.

What's immediately next for $5 over the next month or so is a couple of shorts and a small Jangle bonus, and then I'll unveil what the new novel is. I'm super excited about it, and to throw you a bone until the proper reveal, it's the conclusion of the loose 'Evil Men' trilogy, (following from the Manson & Savile books) though a lot 'lighter' tonally, and with a distinctly Fortean flavour.

Obviously, I will be putting the novel out in paperback eventually, but not until long after it's been completed on here. By then, hopefully I'll be able to throw in a hard copy for all the $5 crew. (For now, I'm just saying 'hopefully', as I don't want to commit to something that could put me out on the street.)

Alright, that's it. Now here's slightly-future-you feasting on some delicious fiction.

Thanks, John! Appreciate the support, as always.

I just finished reading Jangle this week (real life got in the way over the last month or so) and I’m here for the duration. Can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
