CHAPTER 4 PREVIEW
The chapter opens on Todd's neighborhood around sunset. With a glimmer and whoosh of purple smoke, Todd materializes mid-walk, luggage in tow. He has a determined scowl on his face, but as he nears his house he stares for a moment, and his expression shifts to worry. He recalls the previous events that led to him coming back.
After he had demanded the Station Master return him home, the demon had merely smirked and agreed all too easily. "Of course!”
Todd warily questioned this, having expected a fight. "...Really? You'll take me back home?”
The Station Master smiled, feigning kindness. "If that's what you wish! We'll set course right away, I suggest you wait in your cabin until we arrive."
Back in his cabin, Todd thought to himself, “What a relief… I can really go home.” He changed back into his original clothes and packed his belongings as the train screeched into motion. As he packed, the Electrocuted tried to speak to him.
"Are you sure you really want to do this? I think-" Frustrated and fed up, Todd instinctively summoned his ghost hand and ripped the Electrocuted from his chest, tossing the spirit away.
The Electrocuted reformed, looking worried, but Todd turned his back. “Go away! I've had enough of all this." The ghost hesitated, then sadly phased through the door.
Feeling tired, Todd sat and rubbed his eyes, thinking he'd rest them for a moment. In what seemed like an instant later he was awoken by the Conductor knocking at his door. "Mr. Greyson, we've arrived. Kindly make your way to the exit."
Surprised but eager to leave, Todd hurriedly grabbed his things and proceeded to exit the train. As he was leaving the platform, he was stopped by Emilie calling out. "Todd, wait-!”
She paused for a moment. "Are… you sure you want to go...?" Todd was confused and a bit guilty for leaving her behind, but he nodded reluctantly. She looked like she wanted to say more but just watched as Todd walked away.
The scene returns to Todd staring at his house once again.
Look forward to more, and thanks for reading!
