We're holding at the hold short!

Of course, this isn't aviation but basically we're on hold for approximately 24 hours.

We departed the dock and within minutes started having issues with the starboard engine...It was constantly in reverse! No matter what setting we had it in. We went into our anchorage, anchored and Jeremiah dove into locating the problem. Turns out the the Yacht Controller system had a gear that sheered off. That gear is what selects the transmission in reverse, neutral or forward, it failed in reverse so of course, it stayed in reverse.

So the plan is tomorrow we will be all over Yacht Commander (the company that makes and installed this system), we hope to either get them to come out and fix it, get them to give us the parts so we can fix it or agree to ship the parts to us. If they'll ship them we'll depart. The cool thing is that they are local to Fort Lauderdale which is where we are!

The onboard system includes a manual function so you can still select the gear you want to be in...You just have to be down below. So with Ted onboard, who is flying in right now, we can do that. So if we have to, we will use that feature until we have winds to sail and then switch the engine off. Then we'll continue that until we get the part shipped over to the Bahamas.

Bummed, for sure but not out! We hope to be underway tomorrow night! We'll keep you posted!!
