What an amazing time it's been! We're currently in a beautiful anchorage in south Florida waiting on a weather window to continue on! Today the seas are up to 5', we decided to wait for better seas and take some time for a repair.
We've been sailing offshore recently instead of using the ICW. Mainly because the further south you get in Florida, the more crowded it gets and the more bridges you have to deal with! The fixed bridges aren't really an issue, most are 65' high, the Lazy Gecko only needs 52'. It's the draw bridges. Traffic, high currents and wait times if you don't get there at the correct time creates a lot of stress so we've decided to use the ocean at this point!
It...Is...Amazing! Oh so beautiful. We enjoy heading out to the 3 nautical mile line and sailing south around that. Some choose to sail closer to shore but we really enjoy the distance from the shore and from other boaters!
The Gecko is solid, she sails straight and true. She's cmpletely impressed us! Rhys doesn't mind it. Life as usual for him except for the harness he wears when in the cockpit. He likes it though. Yesterday our autopilot belt completely ate itself so today Jeremiah will be ripping that apart to try to repair it. Hope we have another one onboard!
We're sailing on once we get a window! Thank you Patrons!! We love you guys and gals!
