During these last days before departing, we're knee deep in repairs and getting our boat "ship-shape!". One of these items is wood repair and refinish. Remember Kiya's little "chew toy", the step? We had an amazing carpenter come by the boat yesterday, he's going to repair it plus redo quite a few other pieces to include the cockpit.
While here, we picked his brain about care for our teak and mahogany throughout our boat. We've been worried to do anything in fear that we'd mess it up. Our wood is stained but not varnished, so it's not just a wipe down. We knew we needed to oil it and now we have the tips to do so!
So I've started in the v-berth, it looks AMAZING! I love it and can't wait to get everything done. We're using some teak oil right now but did you know that you can use olive oil as well?! Especially in the galley where food touches the wood :)
We're SO looking forward to seeing the finished product along with getting our lovely repairs completed!! YES!
