Hey guys!
A little update on our trip to California! So we were on the way out of Pensacola, we had just gotten to Mobile, Alabama and were going down into an underground tunnel when I pressed the accelerator and the RPMs shot up. No torque at all. Like it was in neutral but it wasn't. We were going down the hill and I knew it wasn't going to make it up the other side. I got over to the side and slowed to a stop as we were heading up the hill. We almost made it but didn't. I tried to place the truck into park, it rolled backwards. There was no gear response in any gear at all.
Only about 2 minutes went by, we were already on the phone with the authorities when a LCDR in the Coast Guard pulled in front of us. He hooked us up and towed us to a safe spot at a park and ride. Thank God for good people! Funny, we've been rescued by the Coast Guard and weren't even on a boat!
I got the truck moving by resetting the transfer case (which I assumed it was) but it still wasn't shifting properly. So we had her towed to a dealership. They were great, gave us a rental while the truck is there. It's something electrical that isn't allowing the truck to shift the transfer case properly. I'm a mechanic, not an electrician so that's on them to figure out.
So now we're on the way again but in our little Mazda rental car. It's all good and part of our adventure! We're loving it and can't wait to catch Trevor's football game on Sat!
Thought some of you might like to know! Keep in touch, we will be checking in with you along the way!
