The Secrets of sha-Arthan and the OGL

As many of you are no doubt aware, there are credible rumors that Wizards of the Coast is not only introducing a new version of the Open Game License but also "de-authorizing" the previous version (1.0a) under which a great many old school RPGs have been released. If true, this could necessitate a certain degree of rewriting the current draft of The Secrets of sha-Arthan so as eliminate any vestigial connections to the d20 SRD.

Fortunately, this won't be too onerous. The current draft uses none of the SRD's classes, races, spells, or monsters. I have likewise eliminated nearly all of the D&D-descended ability scores (only Charisma remains), as well as much of its terminology. Even so, there's still work to be done. Rather than look on this as a crisis, I see it as an opportunity to make the final game one that can stand on its own without reference to any other.

I'll have more to say on this as we learn more about the new OGL and its impact on the wider hobby.

I'd go for it anyway, I prefer Presence :)

Even earlier drafts of the rules included Presence instead of Charisma, so it's something I'd previously considered.

I'm sure if you wanted to jettison Charisma too, we could come up with a good replacement (Presence, maybe?).
