There were already about four or five episodes made by that point, and the first volume collected the first two shows along with the Library sketch. Incidentally, the show was produced as an occasional series of specials rather than a regular series. New episodes usually premiered on holidays - and the first episode was broadcast on the evening of New Year's Day 1990, precisely 35 years ago! And I watched that first broadcast at the time... I feel old.

It is also essentially the main plot of the Mr Bean movie, except the book became a painting. So probably why they didn't air it as they thought itd be good for a movie story that would inevitably come out

Damp in the walls is a big part of why we leave the brick exposed. Its to try and breathe the wet, cold, mouldy air out of the walls and into the wet, cold, mouldy air outside. 70% humidity is low here.

The idea is you put it in a sealed cold environment to stop the moisture and vapours evaporating and drying on the brush. It's never been an issue when I've done it. Never left it for more than 10 mins. Couldn't even smell it tbh.

I pray the banks sort that situation out quickly. You'll be okay. You've put so much work into that house. The minute you have it all settled and decorated you'll feel like a DIY goddess. βΊοΈ Either way: I love hearing you rant. It's good for you to keep sharing this stuff, we don't always have to face the world alone. I've never really been in a library that fancy where you have to wear gloves, I like to read. But my worst one is where the pages stick together cos of peoples' boogies or sticky fingers π€’. That scene with the box cutter etc reminded me of my first attempt at an airfix model, and was the point in my childhood where I discovered I'm one of those people who learns everything by getting it wrong. π€£ For painting a few tips. Wet the brush or the roller BEFORE you apply the paint. If you're leaving your paintbrush for a short while, wrap it in some foil and put in the fridge, to stop it setting on the brush. And finally, go buy a shit tonne of masking tape because trust me it's easier to tape all the edges and paint than to try and paint perfectly. Only the trade painters can really do that.
