Since no one satisfactorily explained what Marmalade and Jam etc are, i'll take a shot. What makes Marmalade distinct from the others is that it contains the rind of the fruit used (typically a citrus but was originally, historically, made from Quinces). I heard a comedian once describe Marmalade as someone has taken the worst part of the fruit, which most people throw away, and made it spreadable! π The rind gives it a slight bitterness, but also tons of flavour from all the oils it contains. Orange is most common these days but I did make a batch of lime marmalade a couple of years ago from a bumper crop off of my lime tree. I love Marmalade, but it has soooooo much sugar in it. As far as jam and jelly go, thats a little more nuanced, and tbh, probably not worth worrying too much about but basically you could say they are made the same way, but jelly is strained to remove the fruit so its texture is smoother and more consistent. Jam still has some fruit in it so it has a more 'lumpy?' texture. Having said all that, it's probable that there are producers out there that just call things whatever they want, so... maybe worth adding that there are also 'Conserves'. These are basically a very chunky jam with a very high fruit content. Sort of the opposite of what you call jelly. Hope that helped?π€·ββοΈ

Apartment hunting can be tough, with a lot of downs during the process. But I'm crossing all my fingers and toes and hope that a good one comes along soon. And with a bathroom ceiling that you don't immediately have to paint :)

2024-10-20 18:16:01 +0000 UTCI couldn't fit Cunk in, cos I wanted to do each show only once, rather than keep looping back via Taskmaster, Wilty and Cats. There's a couple of options for Cunk. Mark Lawson the tv critic appears as a talking head in Cunk and Extras. Richard Curtis appears in Cunk and wrote a couple of shows, plus he appears on the phone in Extras ('tell him I'm snowboarding'). Cunk's writer Ben Caudell was exec producer on some of Peep Show. The only thing I was sure of was Fawlty Towers had to go at one end, since the Andrew Sachs reference was the only link I could find!

Actually, you can probably just link everything via Would I Lie to You. It's kind of like a hub and everything is linked to it because so many people have been on it. I'm glad you didn't do that though, that would be a boring way to link it all together.

2024-10-19 23:04:10 +0000 UTCThe way I heard it, jam is a fruit preserve with the fruit still in it and jelly is a preserve without bits of fruit (ie: only the jelly). Jell-o is a US brand name for gelatine, which we started to call jelly for short just to confuse things. Marmalade is a kind of tangy orange jam. But these days you can get jam and marmalade in varieties (like smooth/chunky peanut butter) without fruit bits but we still call it all jam/marmalade. I have a sudden urge for a sammich π€€ Oh best of luck with the search too. The ideal Mandy Manor is just waiting to be found, no doubts.

I get what you mean about having nothing. I didn't realise how much I was gonna spend on just stuff I took for granted at home. I bought a tin of beans; started making dinner and came to realise I had no tin opener! π€£ And no internet for 3 weeks! I could have died. I was stuck with satellite TV, watching nothing but big bang theory. Jelly, Jam, Marmalade. Ones American, ones British, ones a jam made of predominantly Oranges. Jelly for British people is the wibbly wobbly clear semi-solid stuff. I often wonder; do your friends, family and/or colleagues know you do this stuff and how popular you are?
