Phoenix Nights - S1 E2

I now am not so sure that I want a horse... ๐Ÿ‘€

You know what? I can totally see myself as an old bingo lady.... hell, I would go play now! Always liked it... maybe I can win myself a gold hip replacement or something.... How young is too young to go?

Thank you Steve. ๐Ÿฉท Several days later and we are still fighting for kitty to get better

Mandy Cane Lane

Not first and I have no idea what you are talking about! ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ™ˆ

Mandy Cane Lane

Ok, so all I am going to say is solid defense with confusing Bob and Bernard. Also glad someone else sees Fry's features!

Mandy Cane Lane

You are very welcome lovely Mandy of Earth. Always more fun if you have some more context for what you are watching I think :)

Jonathan Pettitt

Hahahha, that is funny! Did you learn how to sew? When I was 5 I got called up to pick a winner for a raffle once, I ended up picking my dad's number from the bowl. This then happened again the following week. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ I was no longer called to help, lol.

Mandy Cane Lane

Thank you Carl ๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿฉท We are still fighting it at the moment.

Mandy Cane Lane

Huh, never heard of that show ๐Ÿ˜…

Mandy Cane Lane

That's fine idm at all ๐Ÿ˜‚

Joshyboiiiiii

Hahaha, ya silly goose had me thinking I messed up again! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ Ever have to break up some oldie fights?

Mandy Cane Lane

Hahaha! Welp, it's gonna be stuck like that for a few more days until I can change it ๐Ÿคญ

Mandy Cane Lane

Well that was wonderfully explained, thank you Benji! ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿฉทโœจ๏ธ

Mandy Cane Lane

Ohh thank you for explaining! ๐Ÿค—โœจ๏ธ

Mandy Cane Lane

HAHHAHAHAHHA! I have never wanted to try more!!! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Mandy Cane Lane

Thank you Remi! (Again ๐Ÿคญ) ๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿฉท

Mandy Cane Lane

Mandy Cane Lane

Haha, I love Cheers too! Amazing show! But yup, his fabulous hair is a lie! ๐Ÿคฃ

Mandy Cane Lane

Except the typing of *You

Mandy Cane Lane

Ypy know the word was actually gyroscopic! Every once in a while I get stuff right ๐Ÿ˜…

Mandy Cane Lane

Oh no. May her soul rest in peace. And may you find peace in all the wonderful memories I am sure you shared. ๐Ÿค

Mandy Cane Lane

Ohhh, interesting! I still can't remembee where I know him from ๐Ÿค”

Mandy Cane Lane

Lol yes, that was mentioned, but really? Like REALLY?? ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Mandy Cane Lane

๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Mandy Cane Lane

Love it, Tony!! haha. :D. Bloodyhell Ted Danson wore a wig. If any bloke ever looked like a fella who would never lose his hair it was Ted. Cant get over fact he wore a syrup... they are normally so easy to spot even with today hi-tech, let alone the 80's when it looked so obvious like a bit of a carpet on your noggin.

Paul Elsby

limp biscuit lol

This show has never been one of my favourites but itโ€™s growing on me. Iโ€™m sure someone has mentioned before, but the final scene of each episode is just random auditions, like the early auditions in Britain/Americaโ€™s Got Talent.

Julian T

Yes exactly. This was released in 2001. Most people in the UK probably hadnโ€™t heard of Marvelโ€™s Avengers in 2001 (sorry comic book fans). The 1960s TV show was more well known, and featured the gorgeous Diana Rigg in her prime, who went on to be the queen of thorns in Game of Thrones.

Julian T

I absolutely love you too, Liam.

Jeffrey44

I agree with the first part, but I can't see Stephen in young Kenny.

๐‘ญ๐’†๐’Š๐’”๐’•๐’š ๐‘บ๐’•๐’†๐’—๐’†

If it's possible to think that one rotund Northerner is actually another rotund Northerner then why is it so unusual to confuse one red-haired American reactor with another red-haired American reactor? I'd never noticed it before but Young Kenny DOES have similar facial features to Stephen Fry.

Jeffrey44

Haha, he looks more like Peter than Stephen Fry. I watch Noel now and then, funnily enough, I remember Jeffrey saying he looked like Mandy. ๐Ÿ˜…

๐‘ญ๐’†๐’Š๐’”๐’•๐’š ๐‘บ๐’•๐’†๐’—๐’†

I don't know if you know Taffe316, another reactor of British shows, but he was convinced that Young Kenny (who Mandy thinks looks like Stephen Fry) was also played by Peter Kay. He mused over that practically every time Young Kenny was on screen (to my recollection anyway).

Tony Mingoia

In the cast commentary on the DVD, they talk about how he is supposed to have something wrong with his neck so he has to turn his whole body instead of just turning his head, but it doesn't really come across. It does when you know. ๐Ÿ˜…

Tony Mingoia

Baldy bartender. I lost most of my hair worrying about his!

Tony Mingoia

Sorry to hear that fella. ๐Ÿถ๐ŸŒˆ

๐‘ญ๐’†๐’Š๐’”๐’•๐’š ๐‘บ๐’•๐’†๐’—๐’†

The guy who stole the TV that you said you knew. He looks like a thin faced Johnny Vegas to me

OutlawStar

Hope your ๐Ÿ˜บ is all good. My ๐Ÿถ of 15 years went for her long nap a couple weeks, broke me ๐Ÿ˜”

Playing Bingo is fine, just don't be the Bingo caller.... 1 and 7.... 17. 3 and 1.... 40! :) That gyropscope thing you metioned. Did you maybe mean gimbal? That keeps shaky things level. It's so good that I finally get to see all the eps of this now on here. I've only watched a few.

Rusty Dog

It's true, although it was a hairpiece to conceal his baldness, not a full on wig. This scene from 93 is a real reveal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CA3di2Q_DaI

๐‘ญ๐’†๐’Š๐’”๐’•๐’š ๐‘บ๐’•๐’†๐’—๐’†

Cheers is in my top 10 sitcoms of all time btw. Incredible show. My mum and dad would tape every episode (because it was on every Friday night in the UK, and they would be out in the Pub, so we would all watch the tape recording every Saturday morning

Paul Elsby

Ted Danson wore a wig in Cheers??? think you need to fact check that, love!

Paul Elsby

I absolutely love you ๐Ÿ˜‚

Liam Tulley

I'm a traditionalist, as far as I am concerned Manchester itself is still part of Lancashire. As a southerner, from Kent, I still don't accept all the bits of Kent that were absorbed into London belong to London ;)

Jonathan Pettitt

Supposedly Game of Thrones was inspired by the war of the roses. Not sure how true it is. Bolton was changed from Lancashire to Greater Manchester but we'd rather still be Lancashire

Stuart

This episode was great, hope you're moms cat is doing well

Remi

Mandy if you got on a rodio bull You would fly like a fucking base ball, you're better off sticking to rocking horses, that's if you don't break your elbow bumping your desk first

Remi

In my defense. https://iili.io/dSdTmRR.png

Some local knowledge for you. The suite mentioned is the 'Pennine Suite' not the 'Penthouse Suite'. It is a geographical reference. The Pennines are a range of uplands in Northern England. The two competing teams in the fast draw were from Lancashire and Yorkshire, two regions (counties) in Northern England. There is a traditional longstanding rivalry between Lancashire and Yorkshire, hence the concern of Peter Kay's character when he was told where the two competing teams were from. The rivalry is partially associated with the Wars of the Roses, a series of conflicts, essentially English civil wars, for the English Crown between the House of Lancaster and the House of York (Lancaster being a city in Lancashire, and York a city in Yorkshire). The conflicts were named the Wars of the Roses because the symbol of the House of Lancaster was a red rose, and the symbol of the House of York was a white rose. Clearly the person judging the contest was a biased Lancastrian, which is why he kept declaring the Lancastrian competitor the winner, regardless of whether they drew first, and leading to the brawl between the two sides. Peter Kay is a Lancastrian.

Jonathan Pettitt

OMFG! You are correct. I won't edit my comment, I will leave it as it is so everyone can see my ignorance. I dead ass always thought it was Bobby. I can assure you though it was Bobby who slapped me... I think.

๐‘ญ๐’†๐’Š๐’”๐’•๐’š ๐‘บ๐’•๐’†๐’—๐’†

That was not Bobby Ball (R.I.P), that was Bernard Wrigley (1948 - ).

Jeffrey44

Hope you and the cat's alright. ๐Ÿ˜บ I'd be devastated if ours got a tumour. ๐Ÿ˜” Think this show accurately demonstrates how crap our clubs are. ๐Ÿคฃ Only thing worse is the British themed pubs you get in spain. You were right with the word gyroscopic. Cruise ships do use gyroscopes in their pool tables. Basically a gyroscope is near impossible to explain or picture in ones head but I'll try, deep breath ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ - it's a big heavy disk on a shaft (like a barbell weight at the gym). It is spun really fast by a motor on the end or by blowing air across ruts in the disks surface. The shaft is pinched by its ends in a pair of gimbles, usually rings or half rings. One inside the other. The inner ring can hinge and spin inside the outer ring (It's hard to describe, Google an image and you should see what I mean) This allows the rings to rotate relative to eachother, one would then be mounted to the pool table and the other mounted to the ships floor. Basically 'conservation of momentum' states that because the edge of the disk is spinning so fast it wants to stay perfectly perpendicular to it's axis (the shaft) so it stays dead level no matter how hard you try to push it over as the level of energy it needs to be pushed over is immense. An example would be how some people can spin a basketball on their finger without it falling over if they spin it fast enough. It's a funky physics phenomenon which aeroplanes use to navigate and stay straight and level.

Benjamin Taylor-Yates

Confession here! I love playing bingo, I think it's a good night. Not that I go very often.

๐‘ญ๐’†๐’Š๐’”๐’•๐’š ๐‘บ๐’•๐’†๐’—๐’†

Oh i forgot i changed my name to Aaron ๐Ÿ˜…

Joshyboiiiiii

Well this was certainly worth getting woken up early in morning for ๐Ÿค— thank you Mandy. I used to do bingo calling. People take it very seriously. Those bucking broncos are great fun, I didn't last long. I'm sure you will do far better ๐Ÿค

Josh Read

There were a tv show from the 60ies called the Avengers that wasnt made by marvel. Later made into a movie with Uma Thurman. Its a about a pair of Spies or secret agents or what ever. I think thats what he meant?

Carl-Fredrik L

โ™ฅ๏ธโ™ฅ๏ธ aww im so sorry about your mom's cat. Hope they will be on the mend soon

Carl-Fredrik L

When I was about 9 I played bingo at a holiday camp I was at with my mum and brother. As it happened, I won a game and had to go up in front of everybody to collect my prize, which turned out to be a toy sewing machine! I really don't think they expected boys to be playing.

Jason Webb

LMAO, this episode reminds me of my brother. He did the same thing with a smoke machine on his first night DJing at our local pub. The machine messed up, and you could barely make out the green light from the exit sign. I could have helped if I wasnโ€™t laughing so hard. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Ray Von is a classic example of a fairground DJโ€”' Scream if you wanna go faster!' I love his character. โ€‹Strange noise at 15:26... The guy who brought the mechanical bull is the legendary Bobby Ball (R.I.P), he once screamed 'Baldy' and slapped the back of my head when I was watching him live. ๐Ÿคฃ I wouldn't say we think Cowboys are exclusively American, it's more of a stereotype if you know what I mean. Also, we all saw Karl in Mexico. @25:10 "I don't know if that's a lady, is it a lady". It was clearly Elton John. ๐Ÿคฃ Brilliant Mandy, I hope you have a great night with your family and friends later. As always, thank you. ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—

๐‘ญ๐’†๐’Š๐’”๐’•๐’š ๐‘บ๐’•๐’†๐’—๐’†
