The Big Fat Quiz of The Year - 2006 - PART 2

I still embed the links in the hopes that, not only they will one day work again, but that they at least conjure up some kind of image or thumbnail, because on my end, I got nothing. 🤷🏻

As always, link below.

The Big Fat Quiz of The Year - 2006 - PART 2

Comments

Hiya Mandy! Here’s a few of your unanswered and sometimes unasked questions answered 🤗 8:25 A hoodie: In the UK, it’s short for a hooded sweatshirt, or a young person that wears a hooded sweatshirt, regarded by some as a potential hooligan. 18:29 David Walliams swam the “channel” for charity. The English Channel is the stretch of water separating Britain from France, and is 33km wide at its narrowest point, roughly between Dover and Calais, and its the world’s most historically significant and iconic marathon swim. 20:00 The British National Party (BNP) is a far-right, British fascist (racist?) political party, so allegations were thrown. 22:35 Not Bob Mortimer, two teams had “George Michael” as an answer to the last picture question there, I guess it wasn’t that interesting 🤷‍♂️ 40:22 Russell: “Did you really want to hurt him?” He’s using the titular lyric from Boy George’s “Do you really want to hurt me?” hit single, see what he did there? 🤓 42:06 Mandy: “… and that’s what this show proves”, nahhh, this show proves you shouldn’t sweat the small stuff! 😁 45:39 Mandy: “How is she Corr?” Her name is Andrea Corr, and she’s a member of the Irish pop rock band The Corrs, dunno if you’d have ever heard of them, this is their most popular hit, “Breathless”: https://youtu.be/vzerbXFwGCE from 2000. The 4th thing is some kind of test, pregnancy test, or covid test these days 😀 46:53 Mandy, you didn’t recognise Ross Kemp in the TV montage 😀 methinks you’d reacted to too many videos that day 🥱, who remembers 2006 anyway ?! 🤣 50:35 Top of the Pops - then a weekly music chart television programme, announcing the official top 10 singles for the week, like the billboard 100. 52:26 Mandy: “Win a game of pound cake, where he has to guess the weight of that pound cake?” You look totally unimpressed 😀 54:01 “The Dictator” featured another of Sacha Baron Cohen’s characters, not Borat. So you don’t know Borat? I’ll neither recommend, nor not recommend Borat to you, I can’t decide whether you’d appreciate the cojones of the guy, his total character immersion, coming across very authentic, filming some outlandish and revealing interviews with Borat’s regressive worldview, getting into some genuinely risky situations, or whether you’d be turned off by his often base humour, and find some of his antics rather squirmish, violating social taboos. Sasha’s character is very satirical. Very very cool Mandy G
