Loved you saying why the fuck but then 10 seconds later you say fudge πŸ˜‚ btw loved the how I met your mother 'haaaaaave ya met Ted' reference ❀️

Hmm, sometimes he singles people out though πŸ€ͺ

Brilliant! 36:30 To be fair, there was nothing wrong with Lee Mac at that point πŸ˜† Lee’s interruption at β€œdid you get a sale” from Ronan, was not at his expense at all. Noel Edmonds hosted the gameshow β€œDeal or No Deal” So Lee jumped in there with his witty Noel Edmonds punchline to get a laugh. I like it, don't swear, make a promise!

The minimally acceptable standard, baseline, functional at best 😁

Ahh, ok, cool! Thank you for the info Jeffrey! What would be the right episode? πŸ˜…

Oh! And (as someone else said) gingernut is a biscuit/cookie in this instance. But for future ref it can also mean a ginger haired person. A person's "nut" being their head. So if, in a popular comedy film, you hear the phrase "stay where you are, or the gingernut gets it..." they're not talking about cookies πŸ˜‚

This was a great episode πŸ˜‚ I've noticed that with Lee too, how in some episodes he really seems to hone in on one person haha. Georgia Toffolo has a fun energy too - and doesn't pretend not to be posh haha.

More on "Bog Standard" -Yes, it means basic, but there is an interesting theory as to its origins, perhaps a legend, but they say it came from Meccano, a line of constructional toys from the mid-twentieth century. Originally they sold two sets, known as "Box Standard" and "Box Deluxe". It is thought that from this, schoolboy humour derived the phrases "Bog Standard" and "Dog's Bollocks" (i.e, the best). :)

Tony Mingoia

Gingernuts are a ginger flavoured biscuit (cookie)

Krista

🀭 bog-standard toilet πŸ˜‚

Feathers McGraw

He believes in some really kooky stuff though, saying in interviews that cancer is caused by 'having a negative attitude', that two big spirit orbs follow him around everywhere, and that wifi creates 'electrosmog'. Great tv host but he'd be a dreadful guest at an actual house party. Here in Derbyshire he's what we'd call a Billy Bullshitter lol, the guy that doesn't realise nobody believes a word he says, that they only listen to his stories because they don't want to be rude.

SynphamyMusic

Bog is just slang for toilet, the two phrases aren't related

JokerDanny

this was such a fun ep

Ohh! Thank you! So are most toilets bog-standard? O.o

You didn't ask but Noel Edmonds was the UK's finest broadcaster and entertainer. His career started on the radio in the late 60s and he was appearing on UK television until the COVID-19 times. He now lives in New Zealand and seems to have retired from UK television. One of his shows, Noel's House Party, was once described by the BBC as their most important programme. He also presented the UK version of Deal or No Deal which makes him a direct colleague of Richard Osman and Meghan Markle. Living in the house that Noel Edmonds was born in would be an honour for any British person (and an honor for an American). That's why the audience reacted in such a way when Ellie Taylor described him as "just someone stupid". I'd really like to see you react to an episode of Noel's House Party. It would have to be the right episode though, some may be too British and too topical for you (it ran between 1991 and 1999) but the right episode would be interesting.

Bog-standard = normal, simple, nothing fancy
