Thunderbird is an American fortified wine, awful stuff, very popular when I was at Uni in the 90's, the sort of drink which is so bad you only ever see students or tramps drinking it, I have an art degree too, I never went to the graduation ceremony but they posted the certificate to me.

"The secret ingredient is crime" Super Hans may be an awful person (as are Mark and Jez in their own ways), but he's one of my favourite characters :) The professor in this episode also plays an iconic sweary character Malcolm Tucker in another British series, The Thick of It.
