It is happening again all over the west at the moment. Politics are moving further and further right and "foreigners" are being demonised and blamed for problems they haven't caused. It's all very scary and way more alarm bells should be ringing than already are

2023-09-04 10:25:53 +0000 UTCIt's seems like you were reluctant to say it directly, but the great thing about this film is that it humanises - not the top Nazis that were criminal and blindly loyal, nor the innocent civilian who was already humanised - but the people who were officially Nazis but were so out of happenstance or self preservation. And their realisation of what they did. Like Speer who admitted to Hitler that he hadn't carried out any of his orders. Or the main focus piece of the film, the secretary. I think the point of the movie is that, yes good people can do bad things, but there is still a good person inside. And I get that it's hard to say out loud or even stomach the fact that some people who were members of the Nazi party were actually good people, but it's a fact that the movie shows, and NEEDS to be understood if we are to avoid things like this happening again. It's easy to dismiss Nazis as crazy evil people, but don't forget that they were voted into power by good decent innocent people. And we need to understand why good people do bad things if we genuinely don't want this to happen again. Because if we don't, and we just insult and dismiss people, then it WILL happen again. And we need to avoid it.
