The Barcelona twitter account made fun by saying they were never going to score etc. of Liverpool before the game started too, so it was great revenge

2023-07-21 01:14:12 +0000 UTCThe Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp famously said to his team before the game "It's impossible, but because it's you we've got a chance", that still makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck! Sensational comeback, hailed as one of the best comebacks in UEFA Champions League history, at that time Liverpool were notorious for their attacking front 3, Mane, Firmino and Salah, they were incredible and were simply electrifying, but two of them couldn't play that night so they were missing two of their best attackers, also 2 of Barce's attackers that night, Courtinho and Suarez were ex-Liverpool players so that added another dynamic to the game too. Anfield is the most feared stadium in Europe, even at times when Liverpool haven't been doing particularly well in the league they've always had good success in the Champions League, and that's largely down to Anfield, it intimidates opposing teams and managers.

2023-07-21 00:49:24 +0000 UTCi guess the context for this game is that this was a 2nd leg of a best of 2 round in the semi final of the champions league (a cup competition of all the best teams in Europe), in the 1st leg Barca won 3-0, but Liverpool clinched the series with 4 goals in the 2nd leg to make it 4-3 on aggregate. Liverpool went onto win the Champions League by beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the final, but this game is lauded as Barcelona were a harder opponent to beat compared to Tottenham, and Liverpool came out of the 1st leg with a 3-0 deficit, and overcoming that is a feat which is uncommon.

That corner from Trent Alexander Arnold, was amazing! He saw Original free in the middle, Barca had swinging off. Trent is a Liverpool lad born and bread, he was 19 or maybe younger, can’t remember now. But his name and Number went on my shirt the follow season. Original has moved on now, but he scored some crucial goals for us, he is a folk hero to us! YNWA
