Just because something is popular doesn't mean it's actually any good. Take for example pretty much any reality tv show, all very popular, all pretty rubbish. The problem with Only Fools is that it's all very predictable, if you like comedy in the form of baby food go ahead and feast. To be fair, the characterisation in the later end of its run is respectable and interesting as drama, but as comedy it remains one-note.

Only fools and horses is not average. Voted the greatest show ever in the uk. Imdb give a 9/10 and you want to call it average because you are probably from lancashire

One of the funniest shows I have ever seen. There's no way on estth you have ever watched the full set. Do you know on youguv.uk it was voted the best show of all time and won by 31% infront of 2nd faulty towers. There's a reason it still holds the most viewed xmas day audience and there's a reason it's winning.

I don't think it's outdated it's just very very English. I don't think they'll enjoy it much going by what they've liked previously. There will be so many little jokes that you just won't get or even realise they are supposed to be joke unless you're British.

I think they need to look at what their patreons vote for tbh. Just because you watch King Boomer, doesn't mean everyone else does, so they need to throw to the floor like they're doing. That's the best way imo.

But max and paddy pales in comparison to Phoenix Nights. It's nowhere near as good by any standards. That Peter Kay Thing would be a tad more accessible than max and paddy because then at least you'd get the character intros. But Phoenix Night's isn't outdated by any terms. On that list, the one that is the most outdated to me is the UK office. Sad to say, and probably the only time I've known the US version of the sitcom take the ball and run with it.

I could not agree more. Max and paddy would be more relatable. I really did enjoy phoenix nights back in the day, but when I re watched it recently, I found it extremely outdated. The references are so British 90s. Also it's very north Western slang that just doesn't exist anymore.

Phoenix Nights is a bit outdated and British-centric humour as others have said. 'Max and Paddy's Road To Nowhere' might be more accessible if they want some Peter Kay stuff

I think you need to look at what other reactors like King Boomer are currently reacting to and leave those shows off your list until a later date e.g. If Only Fools, Friday Night Dinner or Bottom won I wouldn't want to watch them again right now.

No they won't... not even close. It's an outdated show with 90s references that these guys wouldn't get anyway. The show has not aged well and its only people from that area that seem to think it's a classic but its not. It was great when it was aired but it haf shelf date.

Time for Bottom hopefully. It's a classic, probably unlike anything you'd ever get in USA and unlike anything you'd ever see in UK these days as well. Rik Mayall is a legend of British comedy and the series and live shows will show why.
