Suck It Weekly, Volume 25 (DOCUMENTARY POLL)

Lots to cover on this one, PLEASE READ CARFULLY:

-NEW POLL CONTENT: DOCUMENTARIES Because we've decided to do edited TV series on YouTube (The Inbetweeners, The Moaning Of Life, and Father Ted to start) we've decided on Saturdays we're gonna do reactions to long (1+ hour) documentaries with the intention for upload to YouTube. This is a list compiled of Docs we found on YouTube that are educational & in the same vein as videos that have grown our channel in the past. This list isn't absolute, and we're not attached to the subject matters listed, so feel free to add suggestions below & we'll treat it just like we do the Movie Poll: Pick the 2 most-voted ones, the one with the least amount of votes gets kicked off, and the Doc that's most commented takes its place, rinse & repeat.

-MONDAY-FRIDAY YT CONTENT We've decided going forward M-TH will be dedicated to edited versions of TV Show reactions (this week the remaining episodes of The Ricky Gervais Show & S2E4 of The Inbetweeners) and Fridays will be dedicated to regular reactions from the vault until we run out. Once we've cleared the vault we can start talking about full episode reactions to shows like Would I Lie To You, Taskmaster, 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown, The Graham Norton Show, etc.

-SUNDAY SERIES: Sundays will now be dedicated to educational series with multiple episodes, starting with FRED DIBNAH'S MADE IN BRITAIN and once that's done we'll reconvene & pick another one via poll. We won't put up another poll on that one, but some contenders for the Sunday slot in the future include JEREMY CLARKSON: INVENTIONS THAT CHANGED THE WORLD, CUNK ON BRITAIN, & THE FRED DIBNAH STORY

-ADJUSTMENT TO SPORTY (& MORE CINEMATIC) EMBRACERS TIER: Tuesdays you'll get reactions to individual players/racers, Thursdays reactions to individual matches/races, and EVERY OTHER SUNDAY you'll get a bonus movie reaction from our master list. We've made this adjustment so we keep ourselves from biting off more than we can chew. TUESDAY: Matthew Le Tisser (Arias  THURSDAY: Premier League Classic - Liverpool 4-3 Newcastle

-NEW SERIES POLL AT 4 PM UK/11 AM EST: We need something to replace The Ricky Gervais Show, as y'all know we only keep up with 3 comedy series at a time, so we need something to go along with Peep Show & The IT Crowd.

-CINEMATIC EMBRACERS MOVIE OF THE WEEK: Time Bandits

-PEEP SHOW & THE IT CROWD: Both S2E3 of Peep Show & S1E3 of The IT Crowd are a go for this week.

-I'LL BE IN MARYLAND THIS WEEKEND: I'm utilizing some free studio time from a recording studio outside of DC on Friday 6/16 & I'll use it to get a proper version of "The First Day" recorded, I have a gig at Caribbean Pool Bar in Ocean City on Monday 6/19, which I'll likely stream on Spencer Joyce Music pending WiFi availability, and a video session outside of Baltimore on Tuesday 6/20. Not sure if the stars will align for Daniel & I to meet, but I'll bring my gear just in case.

I think that's it for now, LOVE Y'ALL & HOPE YOU CRUSH THE WEEK!!!

Oasis- Knebworth 1996 ( 2021)... Can't believe Liam gallagher-As it was isn't smashing the polls on the channel OASIS built so let's see if an actual oasis documentary does any better πŸ‘πŸ»

Jack

Even if you don’t know much about Senna, the film about him is enough to move a grown man to tears.

Its a mix of stand up and telling a few of his life stories. That particular version is cut though and starts like 5 minutes into the show. This is the full show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Dhxahj6iLo

Danny

"An Audience With Billy Connolly Unexpurgated 1985" is cut its not the full video. This is the ACTUAL full video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Dhxahj6iLo

Danny

You are right David, the loaded lad culture turned the thing into something nasty by the end, I think it was mobilised deliberately to hijack and/or end what seemed an inherently leftish thing. But it's a very interesting cultural and political moment. I feel the same as you mixed feelings about the time

Richard Stokes

Haha don't get me wrong, I prefer him to Saville as a human being (obviously! )..not much of a fan of his solo work though. I'm more of a Noel fan πŸ™‚

ZedMC

That is a good one, I read the book of the same name that it was adapted from. Well worth a read. I've got a love/hate relationship with Britpop, I was 18 in 1995, just starting university so it's a huge part of my youth but some of the parochialism and lad culture that came with it was highly dubious.

David Mannion

Wow you must really dislike Liam to prefer Jimmy 🀣 , Suppose Liam is like marmite (Rate him or Hate him) lol ,each to their own but i definitely agree with the Louis Theroux shout out πŸ‘πŸ»

Jack

Battle of Britain I was suggesting for the movie reactions is the 1969 film not the documentary made for TV πŸ˜‚ They are two completely different things. They often get mixed up on reaction channels. The film is "Battle of Britain" the documentary is "The Battle of Britain". Please can I ask that you put the film back on the movie poll Spence?

Elizabeth Cushway

I'm surprised that the Jimmy Saville documentary is getting so many votes too. Mind you I would rather watch that than Liam Gallagher πŸ˜‚ Louis Theroux is a great shout for the future. I agree a shorter series for next time would be good - I'm Alan Partridge, Extras and the UK Office would be great.

ZedMC

What on earth is happening to the demographics of this channel (the channel that oasis built) when Jimmy Saville documentary is getting over 5 times the amounts of votes of Liam Gallagher-As it was πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜‚,oh well that's democracy lol

Jack

Tbf they may not know (tbf they probably don't really want to know) the full story ,but there was no justice served so its not like the war documentaries where its harrowing but there's a happy ending. I think a short YouTube video would suffice rather than an hour documentary which covers alot of things up .

Jack

Such a strange choice for people to vote for .It's a horrendous story with no justice or happy ending

Jack

Why do people want to see a reaction to Jimmy Saville?! Horrendous human who everyone knows the story. Should be getting zero air time, especially on a comedy focused reaction page.

JR

Was going to say the exact same thing. These guys predominantly do comedy, it's far too dark and depressing to watch. We know what happened, we don't need to see that shit.

JR

Bottom 🀞

JR

You guys should check out Louis Theroux - he has a ton of brilliant documentaries - and he has a pair where he met Jimmy Saville years before the allegations, and then one after his death and everything came out - really really good stuff. He’s also done a few on the most hated family in America, and tons on people with shall we say β€œfringe” beliefs and ways of living - he’s honestly so good

Lee-anne

A couple of great BBC documentaries you might want to add to the poll list... _ "BBC Horizon - Dangerous Dogs with Professor Green" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmVbpuxXVac _ Professor Green, aka Stephen Manderson, delves into the murky world of illegal dogs to investigate a worrying new trend. In the last decade, 27 people have been killed by dogs and hospitalisations have risen by 76%. But who is to blame? On a journey that takes him across the country, Stephen meets young men whose illegal dogs are trained to attack, the owner of a banned breed whose dog is facing a death sentence, the head of the Met Police Status Dog Unit, and the family of Jade Anderson, a 14-year-old girl killed in a tragic attack. Stephen asks whether the controversial Dangerous Dogs Act is making things better or worse. _ "Rich Hall's Inventing the Indian" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmP3gGj9yjM _ Comedian Rich Hall goes in search of the real American Indian, a people who have too often been stereotyped. This image portrayed through cinema and literature is not a true representation of the Native American, giving Rich the opportunity to redress the balance. With the help of a Native American, Dallas Goldtooth, Rich explores a different idea of what the American Indian is and what life is like for them today. He not only questions the screen image of the 'savage Indian' in films such as Soldier Blue, Stagecoach and A Man Called Horse, but looks at the written one, through literature such as The Last of the Mohicans, Black Elk Speaks and Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee. The programme takes Rich from the Navajo Reservation in Arizona to the Pine Ridge Reservation of South Dakota and incorporates interviews with tribal elders and activists, archive clips of some of cinema's finest films, historical photographs and footage, all brought together with Rich's customary wit and intelligence. A documentary which uncovers the truth about the American Indian and gives us a different perspective on the people who set foot on American soil first.

Shoomer1988

Just a headups guys "An Audience With Billy Connolly Unexpurgated" is standup not a documentary. I still voted for it because it's a classic.

Shoomer1988

Why on earth are people voting for the Jimmy Saville documentary πŸ™„ πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ,All that needs to be known is he was a Beast/Predator and everyone who should of protected these children ie bbc ,police and social services knew about it and covered it up 😑 (check out Johnny Rotten bbc interview about Jimmy Saville)

Jack

This is a good britpop documentary too, bit longer with a bit more detail about the times and the political backdrop. Its called 'Live Forever'- The Rise and Fall of Britpop. https://youtu.be/vJ4xW4UNjnQ

Richard Stokes

You should do the F1 killer years documentarie put that on the poll and see how it goes

Dango247
