Suck It Weekly, Volume 19 (Advance Reaction Poll)

Lots Of Stuff Going On This Week, So Strap In!

-DOUBLE UPLOADS RETURN: As y'all probably saw on our Community Tab on YouTube, we will be returning to Double Uploads for the month of May, so our Upload schedule will be Monday-Friday 7 AM & 12 PM EST / 12 PM & 5 PM UK. With our new setup via ReStream, we are practically unstoppable & don't have to shift schedules & drive long distances to continue the channel.

-UPCOMING WATCH-ALONGS: We have 4 Watch-along Livestreams coming up, 2 on ETS21, 2 on Spencer Joyce Music:

Saturday May 6th: The Coronation Of His Majesty King Charles III, Livestream Begins at 5 AM EST/10 AM UK on Embrace The Suck 21

Tuesday May 9th: Eurovision Song Contest Semi-Final 1, Livestream Begins 2:45 PM EST/7:45 PM UK on Spencer Joyce Music

Thursday, May 11th: Eurovision Song Contest Semi-Final 2, Livestream Begins 2:45 PM EST/7:45 PM UK on Spencer Joyce Music

Saturday, May 13th: Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final, Livestream Begins 2:45 PM EST/7:45 PM UK on Embrace The Suck 21

We'll do these livestreams as pure watch-alongs in the same vein we did the USA vs England Match during the World Cup 2022

-MOVIE OF THE WEEK: We've made the executive decisions to make our May 6th movie "Eurovision Song Contest: The Story Of Fire Saga" and our May 20th movie "TT: Closer To The Edge" because of the close proximity to both the events these movies are based off and also to clear more space on next weeks movie poll to allow for more new suggestions. Both our May 13th Movie and our May 27th movie are still up for grabs.

-FATHER TED & PEEP SHOW: S3E7 Of Father Ted & S1E4 Of Peep Show are a go for this week.

-RETIRING THE STORAGE UNIT: I will be back in Maryland this week for a concert I bought tickets for Daniel & I for on Thursday, and Wednesday will mark our final session in the storage unit as we won't be needing it after this week, because...

-I'M MOVING BACK TO NORTH CAROLINA: After thinking long and hard about what I want out of life and what is important to me, I've decided to make my temporary move to North Carolina a permanent one. While I do love Maryland, it's way too expensive and the Mid-Atlantic never felt like home to me. More people love Country Music & NASCAR down here, and both Nashville & Atlanta are day-trips away for me so I can make connections in both the Music Industry & the Film Industry. Plus Daniel & I have our Restream setup so we can continue ETS21 from anywhere in the world, although I will be making trips back up to Maryland between now and when my divorce is finalized in January 2024, so you may see videos with Daniel's Brew & Banter background from time to time. My Nana has agreed to let me stay through the end of May and I'll be in my own place come June. I really do appreciate and thank each and every one of you who have been checking in on me during this time, it really means the world to me.

That's it for now, LOVE Y'ALL & CRUSH THE WEEK!!!

Please do Dead to the World by NGHFB

Levellers-One way Glastonbury- good quality, biggest audience in Glastonbury history because it was before they put the fence in.

Lewis Barrett

Still suggesting A Bridge Too Far, Downfall and The Crying Game for the movie list.

Fellow fan too!!! πŸ˜€

I started listening to the Goons when I was teenager in the late 90s - I actually wanted to pursue a career in radio comedy but instead I became a stand-up and now work behind the scenes in TV. Spike was a huge inspiration. Me and my best mate used to make very silly videos and they were totally inspired by Spike. The war diaries are brilliant. I've only just discovered the audio versions so I'm looking forward to going through those.

I suggested Spike. I so happy to find a fellow obsessive😁 I have a feeling a lot of their audience won't even know who he is and that breaks my heart. We wouldn't have all of modern surrealist humour without good old Spak! I have never laughed so hard out loud as when I read his War diaries but listening to him read them is even better because he does all his silly voices and breaks into giggles. Have you heard them?

Elizabeth Cushway

Good luck with the move Spencer! I think the Restream setup actually works really well, way better than I imagined it would - it doesn't feel that different to when you guys are in the same room. I'm here for whatever content you drop, especially the Peep Show reactions!

Rory Elliott

I hope the move goes smoothly and the change of location is good for your career. You deserve some luck and to be happy! I'm sure Daniel will miss you but as far as the Restream setup, it seems to work really well? I think so anyway.

Jazz Chilli

I remember that wonderwall cover is pretty cool, but also worth checking william shatners version of "common people" by pulp; spoken word but somehow it works

John McCormack

If you guys are after some good Scottish comedian content that you haven’t already covered Daniel Sloss is a good shout, two particular routines of which are religion and the other one swearing are particularly good. His accent is also not as thick so he will be easier to understand for more people.

Daniel Sheargold

The 5 minute clip above is from a documentary and features an animated version of the radio show The Goons. It will servre as an excellent introduction as to why he's held in such high regard. Spike waa also a brilliant raconteur on chat shows where he discuses his early life and career during World War 2 - which was prematurely ended when a shell exploded next to his head. His war dairies are hands down some of the funniest books I've ever read. I'll see if I can find some suitable clips for you to look at. Anyway, in the meantime - Prince Charles was a huge fan of Spike Milligan and when Spike received his lifetime achievement award at the British Comedy Awards he sent Spike this message. Anyway Milligans response absolutely floored the audience. I remember watching it live. It was hysterical... https://youtu.be/TkOAUht3G5o

Great news on double uploads, sorting out your living arrangements and watching Fire Saga! Huge fan of the film - soppy, silly, sentimental but good heartwarming fun. Hugely underrated. Anyway I voted for Spike Milligan. The man was a genius and without him and The Goons there would be no Monty Python. He laid the foundations with brilliant surreal comedy. His playfulness with logic and reason for comedic effect was truly outstanding. You should try and check out Q which was a precursor to Monty Python. The radio series The Goons was absolutely ground breaking and still to this day contains moments that are the pinnacle of British Comedy. Have a look at this short sketch to get a flavour https://youtu.be/VRuglNgV_28
