Loved this video, and as others have said, Jeremy Clarksons War Stories series is some of his finest work! There are 3 in the series, (1) The Victoria Cross: For Valour (this one you've just done) (2) The Greatest Raid of All & (3) PQ17: An Arctic Convoy Disaster. I thoroughly recommend all three, they will blow your mind and change your understanding on what courage is! Must watch!! and thanks D & S for what you guys do :-)

Absolutely second this. Incredible series. I bought the dvd box set for my sons to make sure they learn about it all. Nobody should ever forget what happened and what that generation sacrificed for our freedom.

I also think the natural next reaction of this type should be The Greatest Raid which is an incredible story. I think you'd also really enjoy a TV documentary series called 'SAS: Rogue Warriors' which is all about the formation of the SAS in North Africa during WWII, it interviews several of the men still alive at the time, it's 3x1hr episodes, not to be confused with a dramatization of the same story with the same name.

Purple heart - 2 million awarded, VC - 1,355 awarded

Been 4 awarded since this vid 1 Iraq 3 Afghanistan. 2 posthumous 2 living with it, its always a big deal when someone gets one now. Must be so overwhelming while still processing the events. The vc citations are always published and are a madness last one was a joint us marine and uk troops op gone bad in Afghanistan.

great reaction and quite a revelation at the end as mentioned elsewhere the Greatest raid is well worth watching. Some of Britain most successful fighter pilots in the 2nd world would not be awarded the DFC because they learned to fly before the war as civilians, and because they had not been trained as ofiicers were barred from getting it
