Only fools and horses and this, are always the two top rated sitcoms in Britain, but for me faulty towers is better. Fools and horses has some incredible episodes, but there are a lot of them, where as faulty towers is highly concentrated, few episodes but every one is a classic.

Brilliant good old classic British comedy, just don’t make them Iike this anymore. The writing and execution is absolute perfect. 👌

I’d assume there was never a very strong love between them, but an unspoken agreement that they each want to settle and the other seemed tolerable enough and the best they could do. Then they started the hotel and their worst habits grew and any respect or attraction to each other went out the window. Now they’re just stuck with each other. Basil is probably too traditional to propose a divorce and Sybil probably wants to keep the hotel going, so long as she still dominates Basil and doesn’t do much work.

Also, I always misremember the psychiatrist as being Geoffrey Palmer (Field Marshal Haig in the Blackadder finale amongst much, much more) because it's exactly the type of comedy part he would play

Another classic episode (they all are, obvs!) Basil just keeps digging himself deeper because he can't not, that's who he is. I remember re-watching this on repeats after the Australian soaps got popular here in the UK and kinda cringing at the Aussie characters' accent, but for all I know it's authentic. Never been! Sybil's burgundy outfit is [insert fire emoji here]

The Blackadder 'revival' is (allegedly) just going to be a one-off special for Comic Relief, so most likely a 10-15 minute short like The Cavalier Years. News sites couldn't resist the clickbait headlines of "Blackadder to be rebooted!"

Loving rewatching this with you and seeing your take on it. I’d forgotten how incredibly awkward this episode is all the way through. I found myself looking away at times because I was cringing so much.
